Clearwater Beach Marriott Resort on Sand Key - Featured Reviews (2507)
After hearing that Sand Key is not as crowded as Clearwater Beach, we decided to stay at this 10-floor all-suite hotel for a few nights to have beautiful water views. As Platinum Elite Bonvoy members, we travel often, and we enjoyed this hotel so much that we highly recommend it! Since it is a popular hotel, we used suite awards each night to get upgraded to a high floor (the 9th). Knowing there was no concierge lounge at this hotel, we still greatly enjoyed wonderful food and drinks at their Watercolour Grillhouse for breakfast and dinner, refreshing frozen drinks at Kokomos poolside bar and grille, and convenient snacks, Gatorade, and sodas at the Bistro. All of the service in the entire hotel was top-notch, which created a very pleasant, welcoming environment! Our favorite employees were Michael, the friendly, informative valet, who was happy to park our daughter’s car for a couple of hours while she visited us, and Stephanie and Ruth at the front desk, who always greeted us with a smile and answered any questions we had. The beautiful pet macaw was so much fun to watch as she sometimes appeared in the lobby and sometimes outside near the pool. Since Sand Key is narrow, we had views of both the Clearwater Bay and the Sand Key Beach from our 2-room suite, which was great during hot July when we didn’t want to actually walk along the beach. We didn’t take a car, and the hotel had everything we needed for a restful stay. For those who want to go out and about, the hotel staff will take guests to the Sand Key Beach in a golf cart, and a free trolley will take guests to the larger Clearwater Beach. Next time we are considering staying at this hotel we will make sure they are not doing construction. One day on this trip we were woken up at 6:15 am by very loud hammering and drilling noises, even though the website says the construction starts at 7:30 am. Besides that one issue, this is a wonderful hotel!
My significant other and I had stayed there last night and at first our room wasn’t ready, which was no big deal at all, but Mike Lopes went above and beyond to ensure the remainder of our stay was incredible! He checked in when he didn’t have to do so. Also, the second we stepped in the hotel to check in, we were already greeted by his cheerful presence! It’s rare to come across people with great customer service, but his was impeccable! I also wanted to mention Adam Horrocks was just as amazing with his service; he too went above and beyond to ensure our food and service was good. Tyler who served us was helpful and patient as we had questions concerning the menu. Super nice guy! Thank you again for everything! We will def be back!
Overall a nice and reasonably well maintained property. Large comfortable rooms. The only negative was the moderate amount of construction taking place on the property made sleeping in an unlikely activity. Didn’t realize this was occurring until after checking in. There are several restaurants nearby including Columbia next door which is definitely worth a visit or two.
I can't say enough good things about this place!
The rooms were amazing! I wasn't expecting to have outdoor access to our rooms, but it provided the most beautiful view!
All of the staff we came in contact with were very helpful and attentive. We ordered room service a couple of nights that we were there, and the food was delicious and came with everything we needed to enjoy our meals.
There's honestly so much to do in the area, and it's such a beautiful location, you barely need a car, as they will drive you to the beach!
Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, great service! The hotel has a beautiful view of the bay and so much to do around. They offer service to the beach across the street and a trolley service to take you to Clearwater beach. Amenities are great and hotel is family friendly. My only complaint is the need for attention to detail when cleaning the rooms, our tables were dirty and other stuff too. They need to rip the carpets in the room as well, they were very dirty.
This was our 4th stay here in the last ~5 years. They were doing construction outside which was not ideal and we didn’t know what when we booked, but handled well by staff. One member of our party was sleeping on the pull out couch and used ear plugs to not hear the construction in the morning. The carpets 100% need ripped out of the rooms. Also, when we were here a year ago two of the three soap dispensers in the women’s pool bathroom didn’t work. On this trip, they still didn’t work…a whole year later. A lot of the pool chairs need replaced and the cabanas are honestly kind of gross now. We were also put in the same room that we were in last year. Not sure if a coincidence or not. When we checked in last year, there was crayon on the wall behind the balcony curtain. We let staff know but it was never cleaned off during our last stay. The crayon was STILL THERE a year later!! I know it’s possible that another kid drew in the same spot…but…I don’t know. This must be a nice place to work because the staff are always friendly and a good amount of the employees we recognize from year to year. This is a beautiful property but we won’t be back until more updates are done.
The bad - the rooms were terrible. Think '70's Brady Bunch - vinyl couch, 70's carpet, glass back splash behind the "bar" that was held together with scotch tape, mold in the shower, A/C could not get the room down to any comfortable level after running for days and days and days...
Good news - it's undergoing some kind of renovation that is supposed to fix all of this. Service at the restaurants was very good, and the employees were very nice and helpful.
At the end of the day a big disappointment. It really feels and looks like a 1970's hotel that has never, ever been updated.
From the moment I pulled up to the hotel I was cheerfully greeted by the concierge/valet employee who was extremely informative and helpful with my check in process. The front desk clerk while checking in was extremely nice and told me about the amenities the hotel offered. I came with several family members and used the pool one of the days we were staying at the hotel. We love that there is a volleyball net in the pool as well as a basketball hoop and a beach ball. We had fun volleying the beach ball as well as playing volleyball with other families. The bar/restaurant staff was very outgoing and friendly and made the stay pleasant as well. The rooms are nice (suites) to accommodate many family members and all have a bay view. The beach is just accessed the street and the hotel is a 5 minute drive or less from all activites/restaurants in Clearwater. We have stayed at this hotel several times and highly recommend to anyone thinking about staying here!

Wonderful experience at this incredibly CLEAN hotel. We stayed only overnight to catch a very early morning flight. The rooms were immaculate, lots of towels, and plenty of space for us. I heard minimal noise, even though we were outside of a freeway
As a club member, this is our first experience at this location. The resort is beautiful. It has a robust gym for being a hotel/resort.
