Stayed here a few nights. The front desk staff was training a newer person. She made us feel genuinely welcome with greeting us as soon as we walked in. I've been to hotels were you didn't feel welcome. She would be a great commodity to have at this location. I will be coming back to visit. The restaurant/ bar was an added welcome to a long day.
Nice enough place but not worth the cost. Had a cold feel to it and found a couple bugs. Tough to find a good room in this town unless you pay a lot, apparently have a company there that take up many of the rooms. However staff were nice, helpful and friendly, the bed was comfortable, the shower was great and the breakfast was better than most....
I believe the Clarion reply is an empty standard promise they ignore most of the time based on other replies I've read.
The layout works well. The bathrooms need an extractor fan. Very high humidity in the room.
The two women at check-in last night were nice. The young lady at the bar taking the food orders was also very nice. All three were courteous and friendly. However, this morning, the two at the desk were absolutely arrogant. Their personal conversation was much more important than merely replying to "good morning". Unacceptable behavior.
The overall 5 night stay was good. They have breakfast 6:00 to 9:30. Each day was sausage patties and scrambled eggs. There is a bar there but a little steep. There are nearby liquor stores. They do have an in-house restaurant that I did not try out but heard it was relatively good from another guest. Rooms are renovated, but they used a shotty contractor judging by the quality of work so I could already foresee future problems. Every single usb charging port in my room was broken, 6 in total. Not a big deal for me but I would recommend bringing a charger with you. Staff was helpful and friendly when in need. I'll continue to stay at the location. Every hotel has there quirks.
I gave the room a 4 star because the built in bathroom mirror light was broken, my refrigerator leaked water onto the floor, and the charger ports were all faulty.
Stayed here recently for 2 nights.
Most things were OK but couldn't get the TV to connect, etc. The lil refrigerator doesn't keep things very cool.
I'm thinking door seal. The pool was nice. The ice machine in hallway was broken... and so was the coke/snack machine... Will take credit card and good luck getting it back... I had to get creative!
Didn't stay in a room .... only ate dinner at the restaurant & was excellent
The rooms are nice, the front desk staff was very courteous and professional. The room was very humid, but that's also mostly an East Texas problem.
There isn't much noise insulation from outside, so if you're a light sleeper, being earplugs
Positive: Good price compared to the other hotels in the area. Negative: No internet service. I even contacted the front desk. She took my room number and said she would let someone know. Still never had internet service the whole time we were there.
Positive: Smaller hotel made it feel very safe and personal. Breakfast, bar and restaurant available. Pool area looked great! Negative: Chairs in breakfast area are a bit small. Negative: ""

It's on old style Hampton and I love the new ones, but you know what - it's clean and the coffee was good, and the breakfast was fine, so I would stay there again.
Very nice gem of Texas history. Our guide was very knowledgeable and answer all of our questions. They have amazing pieces (antiques) that bring you back to the 1800 and how life and customs were at that time. They have a family fee which is great w
