Clarion Hotel Detroit Metro Airport - Hotel in Romulus - 8600 Merriman Rd, USA

I thought this hotel was a great value for $100/ night. I got stuck at the airport so I just stayed the night here and left early for the car rental place. The room was clean and quiet and I slept really well. They have a restaurant and bar that looked like a decent place to spent an hour or two. I didn’t try it, but I liked that they had a full breakfast menu and a lunch / dinner menu that was half American and half Middle Eastern options, which is a nice nod to the region and welcome for people who like to eat healthy or vegan / vegetarian. The airport shuttle is free and does a round every half hour. It’s about 5 min to the airport.

Amazing value, clean rooms and the absolute best staff. Bar and restaurant on site and the craft cocktails that are made are a surprise for the money. Emy at the front desk is always helpful and a joy. A great stay if you are not trying to break the bank and need a free airport shuttle. Definitely recommend!

Such a nice hotel! Clean, bright and new! The room was just what we needed and wanted. Bed and linens were very nice. Room was clean. Breakfast was hot and tasty. Would have preferred scrambled eggs. Seriously, can’t say enough great things!

I had a very pleasant interaction with a great front desk agent Cassie. I was very on edge because of the airlines and I felt a relief when I got to the hotel a little after 1am and she was very bright a bubbly with a lobby full of passengers that were distraught due to the airline issues. She managed to get us up to the rooms in a quick fast manner, I honestly thought the lobby was gonna be another line like the airport and I was fooled. Cassie awnsered any and all questions we all had. Even if they were the same question over and over. I was even more surprised when we checked out she still had a great attitude and kept us all calm and reassuring that we would get on the shuttle. Cassie was an amazing worker which are hard to find now a days.

Today I experienced the worst treatment ever at this hotel. I was at this hotel for one night and intended to extend to the next day after work. I came back to all my things packed and told I could not rebook. I caused damages to the room. Lies. I have not caused any damage to any room, nor should my items been packed without my knowledge. Not even a phone call was given as a courtesy. I am highly upset and feel as if I was racially targeted. I’m a young black woman, and I am being treated as such my son’s Nintendo switch is missing from our belongings. I called to report My Son‘s missing game system. It was simply told to send an email to the general manager. I will be pressing charges if my son’s Nintendo switch is not returned and I will definitely be calling choice management and report them. They had no reason to extend my stay, nor did they have any reason to pick up my belongings my knowledge and no way should I be missing items especially not my seven-year-old game system that he just got for his birthday. I definitely do not recommend this hotel to beware. The staff is very rude and has no consideration nor common Respect at least not for this young black woman and her family! The hotel can not provide any proof of damage but I can prove proof of theft! I would like my sons game returned immediately!

The hotel was fine and is convenient to the airport. No issues there. However, I do not recommend the airport shuttle. After telling the driver four times which airline we were flying, he repeatedly insisted that we were being dropped off at the correct terminal. We assumed that the shuttle driver knew more about the Detroit airport than us. This assumption was a mistake. We wasted a lot of time determining that we were indeed dropped off at the incorrect location and getting my father (and his walker) onto an airport shuttle to the other terminal. Fortunately, we’d left extra time and were able to make our flight. It was, however, a frustrating start to our trip. Advice to the reader: don’t assume any expertise or helpful local knowledge here.

So visiting the Clarion while on vacation was the ultimate experience for my family and me. We were able to leave our truck and shuttle to the airport. The food and bar was an added bonus! Way to go Clarion - Nothing less than 5 stars for this hotel!

One of the nicest and cleanest hotels in the area. We fly out of DTW often and have stayed at several hotels in the area. Best breakfast, clean rooms, everything worked as expected, unlike Quality Inn, friendly helpful staff. Highly recommend above all others in area. Just don’t fill it up when I need it :)
