Clarion Hotel & Suites Hamden-New Haven - Hotel in Hamden - 2260 Whitney Ave, USA

Very dated, but not awful. It smelled like laundry which was nice because usually dated ones stink. Setup was very labyrinthian and the elevator button was broken at one point so you couldn't get to the first floor. The room had two sinks which was nice. There were balconies but no tables or chairs on them. My bedding was gross and had enough stains on it that it should've been retired. The AC was phenomenal and I never had to worry about getting warm during the heatwave. Breakfast was really good, but the staff working it was pretty short with people and refused to let someone even look at what was in the area less than 10 minutes before the "official" start time. I also heard her snap at another visitor for not grabbing tongs before opening something even though he was about to pick them up. I know working with people can be frustrating but she was rude.

It was a friday night and everyone was booked up. Expensive to stay. The room was dirty and unsafe. No wifi , no tv, no power for coffee machine or microwave. The receptacle had no cover on it. Had to clean air conditioner filter, it was gross. Light over vanity didnt work. Ice machine didnt work and soda machines were empty. Slept with one eye open.

I was not expecting much because of previous ratings but what I went through was horrible. We stayed there for 4 days because my son was graduating and not once was the room cleaned when I called the day before I was told the maid was off and this was 6pm when and would be in at 9:00 am, didn’t see her and this happened for 3 days. We did not have fresh towels or wash cloth's, finally on the last day I kept calling the front desk around 7am before a man finally answered and he sounded sleep. Again I was told the maid would be in at 9:00, I had to get rude and finally towels and wash cloths were brought up. The worse service I have ever had at a hotel. This just happened in May 2024!!!

This place is disgusting. Don't go. Bathroom was full of mold - we had to change rooms and the second room had mold too! Not as severe as the first room but still gross. The furniture was ripped - we went for the indoor pool. The pool was clean but the hot tub only had one working jet and it wasn't even in front of a seat!

Tired, old, not clean, staff not helpful. They seemed indifferent to me as a guest. Had to wait to check in while staff vaped outside. Smelled like pot. The price may look attractive but the service and quality of the hotel is less than adequate.

This was the rudest, nastiest, mustiest hotel I have ever stayed at. The front desk people were rude asking me personal questions and the MANAGER assumed what was going on in he hotel room which wasn’t correct and talked to the man at the front desk like he was her child. The drinks left in the room to take were old and moldy. They also gave us the wrong room at first. Definitely would not recommend

This hotel is old and has not been well updated. Staff and service was very good, but rooms were cramped and stuffy. This is at the lower end of the Choice hotels. Probably would not stay there again.

Decent one night stay. Booked a queen room and we were upgrade to a king. Light in bathroom was not operational. Bed clean and comfortable. Parking lot shared with adjacent diner but well-lit at night. Location was convenient for visiting a relative at local college. Breakfast options were exceptional!! More than satisfied with this property.
