Clarion Hotel & Conference Center - Hotel in Ronkonkoma - 3845 Veterans Memorial Hwy, USA

More like a motel. Little value for the price. Even the discounted group rate I got for the event I attended I thought was too high for the hotel. I suggest you stay somewhere else unless you absolutely need to. Overall very dingy and needs updating but the sheets were clean and beds were comfortable. More specific issues: 1) No iron in the room. When they finally provided it next day after we requested several times, there was no ironing board. 2) The room phone did not work. 3) The TV screen went black after some time. Thankfully that was fixed. 4) A staff member entered our room without knocking while my mom was there alone and he didn’t even apologize. 5) Most hotels automatically do room service unless do not disturb sign is up. Clarion only does room service upon request, which you must walk to the front desk for. The only redeeming quality was that the bedding seemed clean and the gentleman who checked us in at the front desk was nice.

I had a terrible experience during my brief stay of less than 12 hours. When I checked in at night, the receptionist had a terrible attitude. I had specifically requested two beds and a small one for a child when I made the booking, but she told me it was not possible. The room had a strong urine smell, the door to the D section did not work with my key, and the TV and the phone were not working. When I went to the reception area to report these issues, nobody was there. When I checked out and informed the morning front desk about these problems, he acted surprised but didn't seem to care. He said something about next time, but I interrupted him, saying I would never return. My advice is to avoid this place! Additionally, I was charged $134 for a subpar experience in a place that was being promoted as a hotel but felt more like a bad motel.

This hotel should be condemned immediately. My aunts needed a hotel to stay at on short notice and this was the only one in the area that had any availability. Unfortunately, choosing this hotel was a huge mistake. The entire experience was nothing but awful. From the lobby, to the rooms, to the building itself, everything was dirty, dingy, and disgusting. The lobby furniture looked old and in rough shape. The staff was friendly, but it took an eternity to do something as simple as checking in. And they gave them their room key in a folded piece of paper. They couldn’t just use something that didn’t look like an arts and crafts project? The hallways were anything but welcoming. They were dark and I felt uneasy just walking around the hotel. I also noticed more than one spot where the carpet was messed up in the middle of the hall. Finally we saw the rooms and there were inexplicable stains on the walls, the lampshade, the curtains, and on every surface I could see. The air conditioner unit had a plug exposed which is very unsafe. There were pieces of dead bugs on the nightstand. The toilet seat was stained and disgusting. Everything about the place gave my aunts and myself a sick sense of discomfort and I’m sorry that they had the displeasure of having to stay at this hotel. The pictures online might as well be false advertising because they make the rooms look not as bad as they are, but don’t be fooled. The FBI should investigate this place for fraud. And frankly, the only reason why I’m giving this hotel 1 star is because the best part of it was leaving.

I don't know what happened to this hotel. I've stayed there many times in the past. I'll let the pictures do the talking. Our room didn't have a microwave or a refrigerator. The pool was closed the entire time we were there. The ice machine was broken. We had to walk all the way across the hotel to the only working ice machine they have. The room phone didn't work. I tried 4 different phone numbers I found online for The Clarion, none of them connected me to the front desk. Finally on the fifth try, I get the front desk. I asked for more towels and was told I had to come to the front desk. I had to walk in the rain, because of where our room was located. When I got to the front desk I asked the man behind the desk if someone could please look at my room phone. He asked me why I needed a room phone when I have a cell phone. I told him I would like the convenience of dialing 0 for the front desk if I needed to. I was told someone would be up to take a look at it. No one ever came. I was told the next day that none of the room phones in the C building worked. The wiring is broken. The outside door to enter was unlocked, you don't need your room key. Anyone can enter anytime they want. There were dirty hypodermic needles in the parking lot. There's a sign posted saying "No visitors allowed. If your name isn't on the room registration, you're not allowed in the room. I have stayed in 100's of hotels, I have never been told I couldn't have visitors in a hotel room I paid for. For almost $250.00 a night my sister should have been allowed to visit me. We were charged $100.00 for a security deposit. It was refunded and then debited out again. The manager denied that an additional $100.00 was debited from our account. It clearly showed a second withdrawal on my banking app. She refused to refund our money. We called corporate and haven't heard back from them in over 2 weeks. The Clarion went from a nice, clean hotel with a continental breakfast to a dump. We'll never stay there again.

NEVER AGAIN! I always check Google reviews before I book a hotel room. I mad the mistake of not doing it this time. What an absolute sty! The hotel was filthy. The bathroom was gross. The bathtub looked like it hadn’t been washed, ever. The showerhead had scum all over it. I attempted to turn the water on which came out brown. Same with the sink. I wound up using bottled water to brush my teeth. The ceiling was falling apart and had water stains on it. The entire floor of my building smelled like weed. So much for a non-smoking hotel. It took a million swipes for the door key to work. Now let’s address the worst problem. I did not feel safe in this hotel as a woman traveling by myself. I was in a room that was adjacent to another room. The lock on it was difficult to engage. The back parking lot was abandoned and looked like a war zone. DO NOT STAY HERE! I will be contacting corporate tomorrow.

If you were thinking of staying here, simply don’t. DO NOT STAY HERE. The filthy lobby with the closed restaurant, and the abandoned small snack area with a torn carpets and “social distancing“ that ended a year ago. Still being in effect, my hopes were not high for a good night here. Hope and I checked in and went to our room, reluctantly tripping over the torn carpet in the lobby, got to our rooms and found that there was minimal air conditioning, but the rooms were filthy, and when I pulled the bedspread back, I found evidence of bedbugs. We certainly should’ve read the reviews previously because this is not unique. This hotel deserves the bulldozer. I will be making a call to the local health department tomorrow because honestly, I believe this should be shuttered for health and sanitation reasons. If you stay here after reading this, then bless your heart. We quickly walked out because I didn’t wanna have my ankles bitten by bugs anymore than they were, and made another reservation at a different hotel. Naturally, the management refused to give us a refund since we had opened the door to the filthy disgusting room. Please take my advice and go anywhere other than this.

We were on LI for a triathlon. Last min we had to stay at a hotel and honestly the reviews terrified me BUT we had a great experience. The front staff was great (guy with nice eyes) and he even moved our room to the first floor upon asking. The cleaning stay was very friendly as well. Our room was great, clean and tidy. I usually am very picky when it comes to staying places but this one proved me wrong. Great all around experience!

This is the first and last time that I book this hotel. We had an issue trying to unlock the door. It took several tries until it finally opened. We were met with a surprise when we walked in. The cleaning crew left their cleaning cart in the room. The room was dingy and smelled funky. The place is in need of a fresh upgrade. We couldn't find the remote control for the tv. The hallways were not well lit. The front desk was manned by poorly dressed attendants, not very professional. I know that for the price, it was bearable, but next time, I will book a Marriott or Hilton room and pay the price for something better
