Clandestino Gastro-Bar - Mexican restaurant in Azusa - 353 E Foothill Blvd, USA

Parking is very difficult. They share the same parking lot as the smart and final. The drinks were the only thing that were good but they weren’t strong. I ordered the green Chilaquiles with egg and steak. My food was the last to get to our table of the eight of us that were eating. Each of our meals came at different times by the time I got my plate my food was cold. The cheese was hard and the chips were soggy. Myself, and two others in my party do not like spicy food. We asked the waitress if the food was spicy and she said no, of course it was spicy. We did not most of our meal even the beans were spicy. We did not eat most of our meals the waiter was nowhere to be found to even even ask for an exchange. It was a very disappointing experience place, considered all the good reviews. Even the customer service was bad we’d ask for extra silverware and it took a while for them to bring it. We also asked if they can please turn on one of the heaters and in the three hours we were there no one bothered to do that for us.

If you’re looking for a place with good food, great service, and a good environment, you’ve found it. We found this place on social media and it didn’t disappoint. First of all, the waitress, Jasmine, was very knowledgeable, fun, and kind to us. She helped us navigate through the menu. Speaking of which, the food was great. It came out hot and fast. The Thai garlic wings were some of the best I’ve ever had. Then the empanadas came out and blowed us away. I would definitely recommend going to this place

This place is right down the street from Azusa Pacific University, and we decided to try it out for lunch after Grad Fest. The service was friendly, and the food was really good! I tried the pork belly bites and the street tacos. I thought both were very flavorful, and the portions are a good in size for its price. I would definitely eat here again, and I would recommend this place.

FOOD! The food is great! So many places and restaurants have amazing pictures on their website- this spot, the pictures match lol. The food is so good! Everything tastes great! I'm a cheap person- I typically cook at home so when I go out I want something worth my time and money! The prices at first were a little on the higher side for Azusa but man, the food and portions- well worth it! The service was a bit slow but they're very very busy, I can understand why! Took a while to get drinks out, starting or asking if we wanted waters first would have been nice. It was nice because I was in good company but if I went alone I'd be like uhh, hello? The music is a bit loud for my taste. We had to do musical chairs to have a conversation with the person not immediately across lol and I'm already a bad listener and can't read lips- but that's just me being like, hard or hearing? Like 2 volume buttons down would be nice for me. Next time of the weather is nice I'll probably sit outside, the patio had a very nice ambience. The drinks were good! A lot on the menu. One suggestion would be to add descriptions of the drinks - our poor server had to go down the description of every drink (probably part of the slower service lol jk they were good on time for the amount of people). The food has descriptions - so the cocktail menu definitely needs an update. Like, what's a Black Sheep? Lol you put Jack and Coke, I know what that is. Will definitely come back for brunch! The food, again, what we went for 10/10.

DO NOT arrive hungry! We seen this location advertised on IG, their food was good, not great. Their service is slow and our drinks came out half way through our meal. We were told up front that the dishes we ordered would take a while to make but I couldn't understand why a beer and a Michelada flight took 40 minutes to prepare. We made same day reservation's and we were seated on their out door space which we were told had heaters but half way through our meal a heater was taken away from us and we were extremely cold, we couldn't enjoy our meal as we were told that there wasn't seating inside although there were many instances where tables were empty. They have an interesting menu where you can order sushi rolls to pork belly bites and even a molcajete dish which takes about an hour to prepare and serve. I think staff is trying their best but kitchen time management and organization needs to be fixed immediately. Four of us tried several dishes and spent about 250 w/gratuity.

The place is very pretty! I enjoyed their breakfast burrito (scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, refried beans, cheese), iced vanilla coffee, and watermelon mimosa. My friend had the huevos rancheros (two tostadas layered with refried beans, chorizo, cheese, eggs, sour cream and red sauce), and they were delicious too, although it did have a lot of sauce which was a bit too much for my liking. In addition, the servers were very attentive and friendly.

We love trying new, local NON CHAIN food places and this one caught our eyes for our 28th wedding anniversary. It did not disappoint! Marco was our server and was THE.BOMB! He truly made our experience memorable from his drink recommendations, to the best food pairings! The vibe/atmosphere was great and the entire staff was helpful and friendly, we loved the margarita flight and if you're like me and LOVE good chips n salsa (I'm a snob!) WOW! The red salsa, avocado salsa and creamy avocado sauce were TO DIE FOR! The presentation of the food was superb and the overall TASTE was a foodgasm for our taste buds! It's such a blessing to find a local place that really gets down flavor profiles and food textures! You can tell a LOT of love goes into each and every dish here! Try it. You'll thank me!

Like other comments mentioned, DO NOT arrive hungry. Food was good, atmosphere was good and service was friendly. We waited 45 minutes for three entrees, so food takes a while to arrive at your table. Enjoyed, will be back.
