Just left from a pride/drag event and I had so much fun!!! It was so inclusive and everyone wanted to watch out for everyone!!! Best place to go if you are out and open or are in the closet!!! Make sure to bring lots of single dollars to give to the kings and queens during their performances!!!!
City Stage is a New Bern destination. This is a local tavern and eatery that features live entertainment. I had very low expectations for the food considering the menu of typical bar fare.
The food was unexpectedly good. I ordered wings and salad. The wings were large, flavorful and cooked to perfection. The salad portions were large with fresh colorful ingredients and tasty toppings and dressing. Other menu items at our table were similarly well received.
The entertainment was spectacular. A local blues band played a solid two hour set. The musicians interacted with the crowd while delivering a powerful performance.
The prices were reasonable and well in line with similar establishments in the area. The venue is a little run down but not uncomfortably so. We booked a reservation for another date on a month.
A very talented singer Alisa Mike performs on Thurs evenings. Fantastic and talented lady! Can sing ANYTHING! She doesn't charge a cover charge but does accept tips. Food is very good. Prices reasonable for an evening out. Our waitress was exceptional. Relaxed atmosphere. Dancing enjoyed. Special evening out. Couples, singles, groups.
Love this hidden out the way venue in downtown New Bern. They host amazing musical talent like Bridge to Breakdown. Also have exciting drag shows every other Saturday with top notch performers. A must see!
We loved it. Drove from Little Washington to see Big Jim Kohler on a rainy Wednesday night. So worth it! Drinks and dessert. Will be back. Great service, relaxed vibe, some children present. Amazing value. Highly recommend. Don't forget to tip the band!
Went to see Madame Z tonight. Didn't have reservations but got there early enough that it wasn't very crowded. Paid for myself and my very pregnant daughter visiting from Virginia. Asked if we could get a table in the reserved area and we were kindly sat in the back of the reserved section. I have been wanting to see this show for some time. We were seated before 8pm, they announced the show would be 10 to 15 min late starting. Ordered soft drink for my daughter and drink for myself. At 8:40 we were approached and told we would have to move because the table was given to the people that originally reserved it. By this time it was packed with no tables left and no way for us to see the show. I am 5 foot and no way could I see from the very back of the room and there was no wall space so my daughter had n ok wall to lean on (again she us very pregnant). I asked for a refund since we paid to see a show and obviously we weren't going to see anything. He refused and said there was nothing he could do that he tried to help us by seating us at first. They should never have honored the other persons reservation after almost an hour late. Plus we were the ones being punished for the venues mistakes. What did they care, they had our money by this time. We have been there before and have always had a good time. They obviously don't care about their customers. Don't expect to be treated well on the busy nights because obviously they don't care about you.
Good atmosphere, smaller venue. Decent food for a quick bite, and not terribly expensive. They've also got a diverse number of acts there so it's easy to change it up for a night out.
Found out about this place after the fact of it closing, from an article in the Sun Journal. I wish I had heard of this location in New Bern before they closed their doors. In hindsight, goes to show the value of advertising and importance of spreading the word for your business. I've seen enough places struggling because they weren't sharing more information about their business with the community. New Been is a great place to live and is constantly growing; we need more venues like this one.
We recently spent a long weekend here with our two daughters. The Jarvis is really a beautiful B&B, but what really makes this place special is Michael and Denise. They could not have been more hospitable. Everything was top Notch. Thank you two for
