City Scene Bed & Breakfast - Featured Reviews (4)
My partner and I stayed in city scene for five days in October and really enjoyed our stay Its a basement apartment and was perfect for our stay in Chicago. The apartment is situated in a nice area, its only a five minute walk from the CTA lines and a few blocks walk to Lincoln park. We found it very spacious, the kitchen was well stocked so you could cook a meal if you wished to stay in, however as we were on holidays we ate out every day. The good thing as mentioned by other reviewers is you can have breakfast whenever you wish, Mary leaves a in lots of options for breakfasts with a good selections of yoghurts, fresh fruit, cereals pastries etc. I really enjoyed our stay there and only sorry I didn’t stay longer as Chicago is a wonderful city with just so much going on there. Hope to return again sometime.
Came to Chi for my son's birthday weekend and found City Scene. We booked 3 nights due to it's convenient location and ample room. ||||What a nice place. Mary gave us directions and helpful hints on how to get there ahead of time. Location is great...a five minute walk from the Ell, near DePaul University, Lincoln Park District||||What a well thought out place! Beds were really comfy, furniture in the living room also really comfortable. The kitchen had everything we could want and could have produced full meals if we wanted to though we were more Chicago style pizza leftover types when we weren't eating out. Breakfast items stocked in the kitchen included juice, Asst rolls and goodies, yogurt, fruit and coffee to make(really good coffee at that) also had various soft drinks. We were able to use the place like a home away from home. Be sure to use the steam shower in the bathroom...very relaxing!||||Mary has put a lot of thought and love into the apartment we stayed in. It shows. City Scene is our first choice for a place to stay when visiting the Windy City||||Mary was always available if we needed her but we still had our privacy.
The location is fantastic; within walking distance to many great Lincoln Park restaurants and entertainment venues, not to mention the El with direct access to downtown Chicago tourist attractions. Also located in a very friendly/safe neighborhood. My husband and I had no problems at all walking back to the suite late at night after attending shows at Lincoln Hall.||||Mary is a wonderful host, willing to offer help wherever she can and also staying out of your way if you want to be on your own. She stocks the very well-appointed kitchen with everything you might need; baked goods, milk, juice, bottled water and sodas, cheese, fruit, cereal and teas, coffee, and even hot chocolate too.||||Everything is very clean and comfortable. The four days we spent there were like having our own temporary Chicago home (with off-street parking in the back of the building). We really can't wait to have another excuse to visit Chicago and make use of this excellent place to stay again.
My husband and I loved Chicago and our stay at City Scene! We had fantastic fall weather, which always helps, but even in inclement weather this B&B/apartment would be a cozy spot to take shelter. It is conveniently located on a quiet street and only a few blocks to 3 different CTA lines. We even took the "L" in from Midway airport without a hitch, thanks to Mary's clear instructions. It took no time to get downtown and the Lincoln Park neighbourhood was lovely. We did so much walking around during the day that we were very content to just hang out and relax by the fire at the end of each adventure. ||The spacious kitchen was outfitted with anything you might need and Mary's delivery of freshly baked breads and pastries always made for a delicious breakfast. No pressure to be up in time for scheduled breakfast hour as you have your own space and can make you own timetable. Oh... and a very comfy bed too! ||Can't go wrong staying at City Scene. We would definitely stay again and kudos to Mary for making guests feel welcome.
The lovely basement apartment featured two bedrooms, a sitting room with a fireplace, kitchen as well as a bathroom (complete with steam shower) along with wifi access and laundry facilities. ||||We stayed for a week with one of our relatives joining us. It may have be a little chilly for fall in Chicago but the warm heated rooms and friendly service made our stay very comfortable. ||||The location is a short walk to Armitage Station on The Loop, providing easy access to the city and other suburbs and there are plenty of stores, services and places of interest within easy, flat walking access including Lincoln Park and the Zoo, Wrigley Field (although I did not make it there this time) and plenty of boutique shopping.||||There also a number of good dining options and some fine local drinking spots again within easy walking distance. Alternatively, there is a stove, oven, microwave and dishwasher in the kitchen as well as tea and coffee making facilities. ||||We would highly recommend City Scene for a stay, the quiet and friendly suburban location making it a refreshing change from hotels.
City Scene B&B is a wonderful home away from home. The apartment is furnished perfectly for a short or long visit in Chicago. It is perfect for one or two visitors. The kitchen is furnished with everything you may need to cook meals. The location is ideal - near two different metro lines, 2 grocery stores within an easy walk, and many different types of restaurants. The owner is so nice and helpful. If ever back in Chicago, this is the only place we will rent.
I found this B&B online, and it turned out to be truly a gem in the middle of the lovely, quiet and centrally located neighborhood of Lincoln Park. I loved how it had a living room with fireplace. The hostess, Mary, was so accomodating, and the inn was spotless, just how I like things to be. Every day there were fresh baked goods and beverages, as well as many other choices for breakfast. Mary provides all sorts of extra toiletries. She has thought of everything. On my next trip to Chicago, I will stay there again. No other place will do.
I had a very positive experience at this B&B which is situated on a quiet leafy street in the lovely garden district of Lincoln Park and in close proximity to the city attractions via the Red and Brown rail lines. The basement apartment is very charming with air conditioning, well equiped large kitchen to prepare your own breakfast or meals if required, well appointed bathroom, very comfortable bed, separate loungeroom and use of laundry. Chicago is a great city with much to do and see and this B & B provided me with an opportunity to acess all of the tourist sights quickly but have the experience of staying in a lovely local neighbourhood with nice cafes, shops and restaurants.
Amazing Italian Villa in a great location! We had a wonderful stay from the welcome wine in the beautiful kitchen stocked with many yummy food items and delicious local coffee to our private, comfy âVenetianâ suite. Don was very accommodating
My son absolutely loves LifeTough Kids Boxing. He is in his second session, now in intermediates and we canât wait to see where the next level takes him. The coaches are absolutely incredible and the time and dedication they put towards the kids
In Chicago and stopped by this place. Grand opening for them. Wonderful people with a great spirit overall. Had a chance to dive into the whole thing of coffee coming from Ethiopia after meeting their African-American roaster of coffee. Lovely time -
I'm writing this review after taking a full year of classes at Vibez. Initially, I bought class packs and then signed up for the monthly membership (8 classes a month) once I knew it was a good fit. Over the course of 2023, I lost more than 20 pounds
Ive been coming to the Garage Gym heavy AF classes for 6 weeks now and absolutely love them! I was previously just doing one class a week and purchased the five pack, but I decided to move forward with a membership to start going multiple times a wee
I recently joined CrossFit Park Ridge and hands down, best choice Iâve made. Very warm and welcoming community. Workouts are challenging and never boring. And coaches are great! My only regret is not joining sooner. If youâre ready and serious a

This apartment was a great find for us. We had 4 adults and 5 kids and had plenty of space to fit us all comfortably. Importantly for our group the kitchen is well equipped - there have been many places we've stayed where there aren't enough bowls an
I tell all my friends who visit Chicago, or move there to check out Fly Club. The instructors are top-tier and it's a privilege to have so much talent in one facility. The spaces are beautiful, and the community is very welcoming. Even if you're a gu
We love Cafe Calida so much. We came here our last two mornings of our trip and regretted not coming earlier. Great menu with delicious pastries. My husband got a mocha and I got a Chai latte and they were both so delicious. Our first morning we came
Pizza was great. I love this style of pizza. Itâs a great place for a low key date night. Prices were extremely reasonable, especially for the quality. It is a family run business, the family has 2 generations of pizza making experience. Itâs a s
