I went for the first time today and I'm definitely going back! Great place to hike, climb or mountain bike. Such a pretty area just off the road! Also a PERFECT location to watch a sunset.
(Also, part of the trail has a lot of small loose rocks. Makes it a bit slippery in that area.)
Fun spot. Easy trail- we did go just a few hours after rain so I’m not sure how sandy it usually is. We turned around at turtle rock, which the kids loved climbing on. There’s a small arch there too.
Stunning landscape! Very accessible hike with just enough variation and uneven surfaces to provide a challenge, but still easy enough for most people. Beautiful colors, plenty of areas to climb, and excellent photo ops. Very close drive from town. Definitely worth multiple visits.
Great area for hiking and rock climbing.
Chuckwalla trail does also have Chuckwallas! You can see other lizards along the trail as well as desert tortoise. Snake holes throughout the trail so while we didn’t see any snakes be prepared to pay attention to where you walk.
Great 1.8 mile out-and-back hike that is very family-friendly. Can continue the hike but after the Chuckwalla trail, the other trails get more challenging.
Absolutely loved the Turtle Wall and Paradise Rim loop (3.8 miles). The views were spectacular!
This trail is awesome! It links up with others and there were a few bikers out on it too. It's fairly wide for the first mile then started to shrink a bit and there are some deep ruts from the rain but still passable. A lot of fun and worth it for the gorgeous desert views!!
Moderate hike March 26,2023 with a fair bit of climbing, narrow trails and rocky services. Good views of surrounding area when high. It was nice to see some wild spring flowers. Lots of both climbing and descent as the trail weaves the loop. Took us about 125 minutes.
It's a nice area to hike, and usually draws a family crowd. There's rock climbing near the trailhead, and plenty of mountain bike access. Several trails criss-cross each other, so sometimes you'll make a wrong turn. If you don't use a trail app, take a pic of the trailhead map & use it to navigate.

Amazing river, can be mellow and raging. During the heavy rain falls, it's a site to see. Don't want to miss it but stay on high ground for your safety. When it's low, easy to wade in, little guppies to see, and toddlers can play in the dirt or skip
