With such good reviews, I expected WAY more than what we got. Just 2 of us. My daughter ordered a burger, which she didn't eat much of (wish I'd at least tried it). I ordered steak tacos on the recommendation of our waiter. They tasted a bit like burgers, and when I peeked inside, I found tiny bits of meat that looked like chopped up burger plus a bunch of lettuce and sauce. Tasted like a fast food burger. Tacos were served with French fries that were yummy. ~$18 each. With tax and tip, just over $20. SO not what we were looking for. Food gets 2 stars because the French fries were good Service gets 3 because the recommendation by the waiter was bad Atmosphere gets 2 because it was just blah.
The food here is incredible! I highly recommend. We had carry out here during the pandemic two years ago and this was our first time dining inside. The food was delicious. The cornbread, shrimp tacos, sangria, fried chicken bowl, mahi bowl, salad with shrimp all GREAT. My wife, our teenagers, and my parents all highly enjoyed their food. The cornbread was so good we had three orders! Again, I highly recommend. Big shout out to Claudia our waitress. She was phenomenal. All the best to her starting college!
The food and overall atmosphere here was impeccable. Kay was our sever and she could not have been better. From the moment we walked in she made us feel welcome and engaged in personalized conversations with us. She recommended we start with the chips and guacamole which I have to say was some of the best I have ever had. We then moved onto the tacos (fried chicken, steak, and grilled steak) which were all amazing! We also tried the tuna poke bowl which was super fresh and vibrant and had a great fresh taste. And the chow daddy burger which was cooked to perfection and had a great flavour profile. For dessert I have to recommend their ice cream sandwich. It comes out as two giant homemade chocolate chip cookies with some really amazing vanilla ice cream. Overall we could not have had a better experience and can’t wait to come back. And a special thank you to Kay for making our first experience a memorable one!
They moved locations...now on Sea Pines property on Hilton Head. His location is considerably smaller and not as sports oriented. It has more of an upscale vibe...until you review the menu. Needless to say, the menu doesn't match. Burgers and tacos 🌮 but nothing too exciting. The food was good but I expected 😕 a little more.
Ciao Daddy…… Chow Daddy’s seems to be running like a once amazing restaurant by a current staff without a leader. The food and menu has so much potential, but fell flat Pros: Options for most eaters (burger, fried chicken, rice bowl, taco) Easy to get a table Reasonable prices Flavorful food (clarified below) Fun stuff to do if you have to wait (ping pong/pinball- if you bring 75 cents/ game) Cons Incredibly under-staffed Kitchen could not keep up Food was tired (explained below) Sides/starters were TINY Wait staff very disorganized Meal took 50 minutes to arrive —-Meal details— We ordered the Mexican corn, got about 2 Tablespoons for a side/starter. So we ordered more tasted amazing! Ordered buttermilk corn bread- came out FRIED- not mentioned on the menu… was gross. And charred Ordered fries, over salted, ugh..but that’s my preference Main meal- two of us ordered tacos- it was more like Kale salad in a tortilla with a smidge of meat. But, Great sriracha sauce. Two of us ordered fried chicken sandwich- it was good with the sauce and sweet pickle- but the fryer-oil tasted like it hadn’t been changed in a while. Other two got the bowl with rice and fish. Fish was good, but again the kitchen used Kale like it was the hottest vegetable ever and missed the mark -ALL IN ALL we have seen this place for years, read reviews - but passed It by. We finally decided this year to stop in and see why everyone gave it high marks..well… I think we waited too long and that ship has sailed.. sorry, Ciao Daddy…I do hope you find your captain soon👍
Wow!!! How unfortunate!! Good food! Good service! Terrible deal. We spent $90 and got barely enough food to fill 4 adults. The food was delicious but for what we paid it was a complete rip off. It's a real shame. There are so many delicious restaurants to eat at on beautiful Hilton Head, I would stay away from this one.
The atmosphere in here is really cool. We went for lunch and were not wowed by our entire meal. The beef and pork tacos were delicious while the chicken and fish tacos were just okay. The price for the sweet potato fry side was very expensive for the amount you get. Overall, would recommend this place for a fancier taco.
