China gate - Chinese restaurant in Westland - 5824 N Wayne Rd, USA

We ordered orange chicken, schezwan beef & beef fried rice. None of the food was edible and ended up in the garbage. The chicken tasted funny & the outer crust was soft & soggy. The rest of the food made us feel queasy. We're not ordering from there anymore.

They have the best food around, at great prices. Never disappointed when coming here. This is a carry out only place. Wish it was dine in.

Everybody reading this probably has their own favorite Chinese restaurant. China Gate has been around for a long time and it is always great. My cashew chicken had fresh veggies, big mushrooms (hate them, wife eats them for me) and a LOT of big cashew pieces. And the eggrolls are the best part. I do not know what they make them with, but it is a food I crave. Reasonable prices and large portions. Dont change a thing!!

I am assuming there are new owners. We have been going here for at least 29 years. Last week we ordered some of the same dishes we have gotten in the past. Nothing tasted the same. Egg rolls, pot stickers, Moo Shui and chicken with broccoli.

EDIT: Highly confident nearly all of the reviews above 3 stars are fake. This place is NOT good. I have plenty of experience to add weight to this conclusion. This place is a disaster. The food was edible, that's all I can say. The "General Chicken" was not even close to any fairly decent NY Style Chinese food's best attempts. The sauce for the chicken was not even close to the correct type of sauce. The cuts of chicken were far too large and had a few pieces which were entirely gristle or possibly even pork fat. I wouldn't waste your money here, there are many better options in the area.

Place is kind of a joke. Almond gravy has no flavor and looks very unappetizing. Beef and broccoli was grey and tasted off. Pan fried noodles were worst of all. Like someone took dry noodles and threw them into a dry pan until they started burning. General chicken was soggy AF and sweet AF even after requesting extra hot. Egg Rolls are weird with mystery ingredients. Only giving it 2 stars since I ate a good portion and it didn’t get me sick.

This is the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had and I’m not even joking. I almost never leave reviews but when it’s bad I need the restaurant and whoever thinks about coming here to know. I would not feed this slop to my worst enemy. I’m kind of upset that I wasted 17$ on food that isn’t edible, this place needs to be shut down.
