Chick N Max offers a cozy atmosphere accentuated by the welcoming aroma of smoked meat, setting the stage for a standout fast-food experience. The staff add to the charm with their friendly and helpful demeanor. Sandwich-wise, the Loaded Bama combines salty and sweet perfectly, and the Smoked Chicken BLT impresses with its smoky aroma and flavor. Moving to the sides, the coleslaw is uniquely sweet, and the Devil Egg Potato Salad is a hit for those averse to strong mustard. Onion rings are flavorful but may require careful eating. Ending on a sweet note, the Chocolate Chip Cookie tastes just like a homemade treat. Highly recommended for a quick, satisfying meal.
Just tried Chick N Max for the first time - it was excellent. Love the building and cozy atmosphere. The tenders were incredible, better than Chick fil A. Impressed with the sauces and also the Maple Chicken Sandwich. Fast service and hot food. It was busy when I went, but food came out quickly. Will be back to try the Mac and cheese, as I’ve heard it’s amazing. Also appreciate the reasonable prices.
Went here for the first time tonight. It was fine. I ordered the maple bacon chicken sandwich. The picture on the menu made it look amazing. When they brought it out my first thought was "where's the bacon" I opened the sandwich and there was about 1/3 of a strip and some random chunks of bacon and about 1 tsp of maple syrup (see photos). The onion rings were good but tasted like the oil in the fryer might need to be changed. I was also a little confused on the pricing as it seemed like a drink would be included in the "combo" but when we asked for drinks it added on $2 extra - which is fine probably just me misunderstanding. The popcorn chicken was good but we did not get asked if we wanted any dipping sauce. I also wish the drink station was not behind the counter as when we were ready to leave there was a line and had to wait a bit to ask for a refill.
This place has only been open for about a month. Beautiful building inside and out and the service was really good. Plenty of staff to keep things moving! For a fast food joint, it was nice that they had workers come around and pre-bus the table. I’m notoriously a fast eater so I always finish first, it was nice that they cleared my section of table while I was waiting for the rest of the family to eat. Also, typically I hate when they have their soda fountain behind the counter, who wants to get in line to get a refill on their drink? However, as I was standing near my table with my drink in my hand, a worker signal for me to come over for a refill. I didn’t want one, I was just waiting for my wife and my son to get up so we could throw our trash away but it was nice that he offered. Someone was paying attention, very nice. The food? A bit of a mixed review. Prices are not too bad, actually cheaper than I expected. I got the Nashville Hot which I have had at several restaurants… this one was one of the better ones. The best one I’ve ever had is at the Test Kitchen in Minneapolis, if you’re ever in the area, try it… it’s next level amazing and they offer 4 spice levels!! Unfortunately, I also got the Smoked Chicken Wings. Those were NOT good. They had absolutely no flavor, not even a grain of salt. The “smoke” flavor was more like a burnt ash flavor. I kid you not, my hands smelled like I was there smoking cigarettes all night after touching them. Luckily, the smoke was not very penetrating as far as the chicken goes and the Ghost Pepper Sauce gave them flavor and made them edible. Really really good flavored sauce but “Ghost Pepper” insinuates it’s going to have some heat, it had no heat at all… disappointing. The sides might have been the best part of the meal. Potato Salad, Mac & Cheese, and Mashed Potatoes were all very good. Unfortunately, the wife and kid said they’d not go back. The Nashville Hot was a good sandwich and there were a lot of things on the menu that looked very appetizing so I might go back for a work meal and give them a second chance. It’s a new enough restaurant that they might still be trying to find their nitch, I’m not ready to completely give up on them yet but I definitely won’t be ordering the wings again.
So many awesome unique chicken sandwiches to choose from. They were sooooo busy on opening day and the line was just about out the door but the wait was well worth it. We all loved our meals. The other chicken places but none of them can compete with chick n max. The service was outstanding! All of the staff were attentive and helpful. They truly were above and beyond! I highly recommend this place. I ordered the Chipotle BLT and Sweet & Spicy Crunch sandwich. They were both delicious but I prefer the sweet and spicy. The fries, potato salad and Cole slaw were great too!
Was a great place. First time here. Super nice staff. Food was wonderful. I got a hoagie Chipotle and wife got chicken strip meal. They both had breading but it was not overwhelming. I liked there hush puppies. And the sandwich was filling. Will go back. This is a new place in Sioux Falls and welcome. Prices decent for the food you get. Buying more gift cards soon
I ordered the Hot Nashville meal and 3 tender meals. The chicken itself was good. Cold mashed potatos. When asking what side I wanted for my hot Nashville sandwich I asked if there was coleslaw on sandwich like it was shown on menu board at drive thru but instead got what looked like a drizzle of coleslaw dressing on top and bottom of the chicken with no slaw. I would have ordered coleslaw as a side had I known but ordered onion rings based on info given, and they were good. We will wait until they are open for a while and give them another try.
The wait is finally over to try Chick N Max after it was announced back in 2021 to come to Sioux Falls and it does not disappoint! Went with my brother, we ordered the Jamaican Jerk (Sandwich) and the Power Bowl with smoked chicken. The meat was moist and fresh. The cookies and brownies are also really good and only $1.50 each at the time of this review. Just a heads up, they do not have combos with drinks, most items do come with ONE side such as fries, Mac n cheese, beans, etc. The drinks are separate and items like the Power Bowl do not come with a side, so that will be extra. As for the decor, it is really comfy and the brightness is awesome with the large windows and lamps. For those who don't have time to dine inside, there is a two-lane drive thru. For the taste, the food was great and I LOVED the different salt and pepper blends at the table, as well as the roll of paper towels, really smart so guests dont have to ask for extra napkins if they are messy eaters like myself. Try it out for yourself! Also, they are opening TWO more locations in Sioux Falls, I hope they open one on the south side by 69th or 85th please!
