Chestnut Ridge Trail - Hiking area in Roanoke - , USA

Lovely, easy hike, though you are still very close to the road for much of the loop. Great for a stroll, beautiful foliage, but maybe not the best fit if you're looking for that lost in the woods feeling.

Not a bad trail for hiking leisurely. The scenery wasn't anything to write home about but we had a good time. The trail had lots of intersecting connections which was simultaneously helpful and confusing. Here are a few pics!

Early winter hike. We'll marked, no debris or trash. Some spectacular views as well. Now one of my favs.

Well maintained trail good for training. Not really any views or major elevation changes. There are wildflowers. So it can be a nature trail.

Great trail for trail running or just a hike in the woods to get outside. It doesn't have any views of sweeping vistas as it's 'just' a trail through the woods. But you can do the full loop or just half of it by cutting back over thru the campground.

This trail can be challenging at times depending on how much you push yourself. It's easily accessible via yellow mountain road. There's an area by the blue ridge parkway overhead where you can pull your car over and take the beaten path up to the trail and road that heads to the star.

Favorite trail system in the Roanoke Valley. Amazing place to trail run and hike. No bikes, though.

This is a good place to go for an easy walk in nature or a trail close to home/the city without driving too far! The trail follows closely to the roads so that can be stressful as far as not being able to get away from the sound of traffic, also passing behind people's houses on Yellow Mountain Road. It's not really a hiking trail it's more of what reminds me of a walk in the park. So if you wanna get away from traffic noises, suburbs, and the city noise and life, don't go to this trail! But if you're wanting a nice steady walk, it's your trail! 🙂
