Cheryl's Motel & Apartments - Featured Reviews (39)
The guy running the place, Jerry, is a crook, and will not return any of your $150 cleaning deposit, no matter how clean or good condition you leave it when moving out. He'll tell you it's refundable, but guess what, when time to move out you'll never see any of it again. He drives a new Jaguar in addition to a new truck, gee I wonder where he gets the money for all that... He does in fact carry a gun, concealed. And gets into confrontations with people in the alley regularly. I saw him pull his gun on someone back there, and almost witnessed a shooting. I saw no reason it was necessary to pull a gun. He can seem very reasonable at times, and then exactly the opposite at others. I think he's mentally ill. They are very demanding of rent, literally expecting it paid EARLY, or they come harassing you first thing only ON the day it's due. If no prompt answer, they will barge in illegally. The nasty maintenance guy Earl does this, and I doubt Jerry would hesitate to either. It's an awful downtown location, unfriendly neighbors, sometimes quiet but more often noisy, loud mutts, next door biker bar. When I was going to move soon and tried to switch to weekly, suddenly I find they no longer do anything but monthly, and even require 30 days notice. Because they conveniently have switched to apartment status only now, except never provided any kind of advance notice. There's extremely few halfway civilized motels in Reno, and even if desperate you still don't want to rent here. Lots of duplicity, Jerry and Earl will act real cool, until they start their reprehensible behavior. Melanie is the only respectable one there, in fact downright sweet. But don't be fooled, because she is out of place and not really in charge of anything. Jerry is, and that's how I got sucked in to this yet another Reno slum motel.
This place has a bad reputation because it's not friendly to strangers and impatient with slackers. If you pay your rent on time and in full you can expect a clean room and facilities, a quiet spot without drama and a place where no one is going to do you harm because Everyone is watching out for you and your things. In this town you can't ask for more.
If you are staying in a downtown motel you can expect to have some neighbors that drink and have mental health problems this is Reno after all. That being said the room is clean, no bed bugs or cockroaches. A lot of elderly neighbors and dogs. The maintenance man has always been friendly to my boyfriend and I. He is prompt and is always there when we need something. I've never had a problem with Jerry or Cheryl (the owners) he most certainly is not German and does not run around with a gun. They seem like good people to me. They gave all of the tenants Christmas presents. Overall I think if you are looking for a cheap weekly in the downtown area this is your best bet.
Purebred German mentally ill slum lord! This guy runs around with pepper spray and a pistol! Huh? He has a jig a boo maintaince monkey that walks his gross poodle! Sneaks into your room and digs through your belongings. Freshly painted studio, paint so thick that you can sink your finger nails into it! Great homeless neighborhood! Drugs, booze hounds and mentally ill fruit pies with no fillings are your neighbors!
Affordable, mostly quiet, no real issues. Been here over six months. Have now been here almost two years, still no real issues.

Well maintained ,inside and out the staff are courteous It is quiet here, and the tenants are friendly and well mannered.
Best coffee shop in Reno! Fantastic local spot with great service and even better coffee. My wife and I just got back from Italy where coffee is so much apart of the culture and coming here felt like we never left! You can tell the owner Graeson goes
