Our kids (ages 11 & 7) really enjoyed our quick visit to this awesome military and aviation museum! First of all it’s totally FREE….can’t beat that! Secondly the staff were so friendly and walked us around each room, answering questions and showing us unique items and stories. This museum covers all wars from Civil War (1860’s) thru Desert Storm (1990). From guns and ammo, to military uniforms, and model ships, airplanes and tons of local connections with pictures and stories and letters, etc…it really is a thorough and informative place to learn and explore about each war. There were also planes on display outside that you can walk around and touch. Great hidden gem in our area!
There is a surprising amount to see at this free museum (I recommend a donation--they're worth it). The bulk of the displays are of local veterans and where they served and special circumstances of their service. What I liked in particular was the story of a member of the Army band. This veteran got equal billing with everyone else and there was no mention as to whether he saw combat or not. It shows that everyone's military contribution is important.
I knew a bit about General Chennault, but this museum really helped put the pieces together. I was impressed to find that he married a Chinese bride and raised a family with her in a time when mixed marriages weren't really accepted in his hometown.
If you're just going to walk through the displays, then you can get through in 30 minutes. If you're going to read the stories, plan on 2 hours.
Was not able to be there during tour hours, but was able to view through the fence their great collection of rare aircraft including early jet fighters and an unrestored DC 3
Very compelling and emotional. There was a presentation by a volunteer and a video. It was fantastic.
One of the best! So much info about each war from Civil to Afghanistan! Unique displays of memorabilia.
The people make this museum. Stories of veterans by volunteers who are some of the most genuine, dedicated people I've had the privilege to meet. We stayed 4 hours and barely scratched the surface. They also do veteran outreach. Please support!
(They're looking for a tank to add to the display, if you have connections that can help.)
One of the best museums in Louisiana or the entire southern U.S. very friendly staff and volunteers.
Was a great experience lme and my 3 stepchildren went and they just loved it

I came out and tour the apartments I met with this lady name Kendra. She was very nice and sweet! Also very professional. She showed me around the apartments. I was very pleased at what I seen. I signed my lease the same day! Highly recommend if you
Man, oh, man. When I think of good food and where I should travel to eat good food, Monroe, Louisiana, doesn't even crack the top 100 on my list. But after eating at Parish, Monroe is in my top five! Hidden away in an industrial area, Parish comes up
Just had a quick hour to spend, and glad we did! There was a program promoting hunting and fishing while we were there, so it was pretty loud and busy. But one of the park attendants caught us and filled us in on where to go for the short hour we had
Came here for some grilled oysters after a disappointing stop at another spot. Place was very nice. Great view of the river. Great service and the oystersâ¦. Chefs kiss! The Nashville hot chicken sandwich was bomb too!
Place is usually easy to get in and out of. Frozen meals make busy days' dinner easy. Better than frozen grocery store, not quite homemade. Bakery items are always fresh and good.
This is about the only place in Monroe that you can find hot tamales. There is another place but they don't stay open year round. We have been eating at Southside Coney Island for triple digit years. Yes try them out. You won't be disappointed.
We just popped into Okaloosa for a cocktail and an appetizer and ended up spending a couple hours there and having a full family meal. Payton and Emma took care of our party of 9 people perfectly. We loved the Rock Start martini, the meatballs, and t
