Chehalem Aquatic and Fitness Center - Aquatic centre in Newberg - 1802 Haworth Ave, USA

If you are looking for a pool for the public, this is not it. Free-swim hours are non-existent or at bizarre times. Extremely high membership and drop-in cost, making sure to avoid affordability for anyone not white/affluent. The gym is not efficiently arranged and doesn’t allow for floor-work or functional motion exercises. Not a safe space for diversity of any kind, race or orientation wise. Walking track is too expensive as well. So, with all that, it’s a great place for the George Fox swim team and other hetero/cis white folks with money and privilege.

This is my world-favorite place for lap swimming! It is an absolute pleasure to get my butterfly on in an 8 lane pool with wide lanes, excellent lighting and sound, and clear water at the perfect temperature.

Nice facility, that unfortunately prides itself on being inaccessible to so many in the community for too many reasons to go into. (See other comments regarding handicap inaccessibility, hour restrictions, pricing etc etc). Eventually it will probably be 3 rich people using it, and maybe the swim team

The new pool area is complete and very nice. Lots of space, clean, bright and well run. Has something for every age so well worth a family visit. It's pretty crowded since its summer but not crazy.

My family loves the chehalem aquatic center! Toddler time is awesome and guarantees a good nap for our 3 year old. I love the yoga and strength and burn classes as well as the competition pool.

Awesome pool! My kids and I love the diving board, slide and rock wall, so glad we found this place!!

The facility is clean and nice. The workers were also helpful and nice. The reason for the 3 stars is there is no easy access for the rehab facility that this aquatic center was built next to. I use to be able to wheel my mother out to the park there from a sidewalk. This facility was built taking away the nice park, but I thought I could still take my mother there for some swimming. I thought surely they would have left some sort of gate for access to the patients at this rehab facility next door, but there was not. We had to wheel her around the corner and onto a road with no sidewalk to get her there. The sidewalk that goes from the rehab up to the aquatic center should PLEASE have some access through that gate to avoid the road with no sidewalk. Seems like this was poorly planned when building. There are disability hours mon-fri 10:30-12:00 which is great, but to have better access from the rehab facility would be so much better. I did appreciate the special chair they have to wheel her into the water. I was told the temperature was 85 degrees, but it was a little too chilly for her when we tried. We will definitely try again when the weather warms up a bit.
