Go here. Had the sweet potato fries, Mac and cheese, and the lemon vinaigrette salad. Went 2-5 weekdays for 5$ bites! Really good! Shared all with daughter and grand baby! Nice lunch date for sure!

The menu selection and food was delicious! The wait service was somewhat lacking, however. Server was not very attentive and didn't check back often. They might have been under-staffed that day. My only complaint! We came from Cedar Rapids. It was definitely worth the drive!

Ambiance is nice and they have nice patio. Service is great. Bacon and onion mac $18 (9/10) - would have rated 10/10 if it was more cheesy. Cheesy taste complimented by sweetness of onion and saltness of bacon was divine. Poutine $15 (6/10) cheese curds were tasty but gravy was bland for my taste

3.75* (out of 5) Food: 4* Atmosphere: 4* Value: 3* Service: 4* 06/24/2022 Our friends invited us to a group outing here and we really enjoyed the experience. We started with drinks, including a Lost in the Woods (see picture) - which my wife loved. For dinner, we ordered a Cheese Meat Board (see picture) and the Fondue (see pictures) along with Loaded Fries (see picture) and Cheese Curds (see picture). All of them were fantastic - I can't think of one to call out in particular, so would recommend them all! The Loaded Fries were creamy and cheesy while the Cheese Curds were rich yet light at the same time. This is truly a tasty experience that you will want to enjoy with someone special - I recommend it. If you found this review helpful, please show your appreciation with a Like or a Follow.

We'd heard about the Cheese Bar a lot since moving to Des Moines, so we were pretty excited to try it. Overall it was good, but not great. The atmosphere was fun and it gave off a good vibe. We were expecting the food to be pretty memorable, but it didn't really impress us. I had a sandwich and my wife had the bacon and onion mac 'n cheese. We waited for our food longer than we expected. The food wasn't good enough to be considered high-end, but it was priced and served as if it was. Overall it was a fun place to go once, but I'm not sure we'll be coming back

Was recommended by a friend and we were so blown away! Found a patio table right away, server was attentive and kind. Many NA drink options, vegetarian options, and of course, cheese was the star of the show. Had a cheese board which was delicious and explained by a passionate cheesemonger who brought even more life to the cheese. The preserved lemon salad is light yet flavorful. I had an alpine swiss grilled cheese and added pepper jam and it was amazing. Coworkers enjoyed turkey + brie sandwich and mac and cheese. We all left full and delightfully surprised by our cheese adventure. Thanks for the lovely service and food :)

I had lunch there this week. The soup I had was particularly good and the service was as well. I asked my server for some hot sauce for my soup. Upon receiving my bill, I realized I was charged an extra $2 for the pepper sauce. This seems excessive resulting in a 20% increase in my lunch bill. I've never had something like this happen when dining out. Still seems odd

Why haven't I come here sooner?!? I am seriously in such awe with how well this business is run. We came in around 3pm on Saturday and each got a beer. They have a pretty decent tap list for being such a small place and you can't compete with these beer prices anywhere else in town! Andy was helping us at this time and he told us about the Happy Hour specials which go until 5pm. We ordered one of each of the bites they had featured for this menu. I also ordered the escargot + bone marrow because I was a little extra hungry. The escargot was good but it was missing something in my opinion. It seemed like the escargot was served with more oil/fat than normal. Because bone marrow is so fatty already I felt like the dish needed more herbs or citrus to brighten it up. The staff happily obliged and cut me some lemon wedges which really helped round out the dish for me. It was a 10/10 after the addition of some acid The 3 appetizers we ordered were absolutely flawless and I have absolutely no complaints. We had some bread left over from the escargot so we ordered some pepper jelly to finish that off. I am not a jelly person, but this was fantastic! It had just the right bit of heat and tang. We went to their sister store afterwards to buy ourselves a jar. For dessert, I wanted to finish with a cocktail. Wade was helping us at this time and helped me decide between two different drinks. He even did a special garnish for "the gram" so don't expect your drink to come this way unless specifically requested. Overall, a great experience. We sat at the bar which is my favorite way to enjoy a new restaurant. I feel like the setting is more intimate and you learn more about the establishment and what they offer. The staff obviously love their jobs and it shows in everything they do. Can't wait to go back!
