This is a review for their dining room (restaurant). The experience and food was a disaster from start to finish. My husband and I are quite familiar with the island and the inn and we were exceptionally disappointed. We had a reservation to celebrate a special occasion. The appetizer and entree came out at the same time. The lukewarm “chowder” was horrible - too sour from perhaps fennel ? and way too much fresh dill. And, the watery broth was confusing. The “fish cake” ? - we live in New England - was inedible with the “comeback” sauce, as was my husband’s burger. Our cocktails finally arrived after we asked twice, after our meal arrived, and were not actual cocktails - we mentioned this twice to our waiter to no avail. We will never return. Good luck to them with their wedding business - but for locals- we left our food on our plates and received no acknowledgment of our concerns from our waiter. At over $120 for lunch - this place has truly turned into a tourist trap.

My husband and I recently had the most lovely 1-night stay at Chebeague Island Inn. Getting there is half the fun, as you have to take a ferry to the island (it's a very scenic ride), and the hotel has a shuttle that picks you up right from the ferry dock (super convenient). Check in was easy, and our room was just right, with the gentle ocean breezes wafting through our window. My favorite spot on the property was the veranda that wraps around the main floor -- it's a very popular hangout spot, with lots of cozy seating overlooking Casco Bay. I spent hours here on a lazy Monday afternoon, taking in the views while enjoying a couple of tasty libations and making new friends. We enjoyed dinner in the restaurant that evening as well, and the food was so delicious (get the Peekytoe Crab Toast). Then back to the veranda to enjoy a spectacular sunset. The next morning before checking out, we borrowed a couple of the inn's bikes (complimentary for all guests) and tooled around the island a bit, exploring. My only regret is that I wish we could have stayed longer!

A lovely relaxing Inn with large comfortable porches, comfy furniture and a view of Casco Bay.. The inn keepers are very thoughtful.. We missed our return boat and had to spend the afternoon in this perfect enviroment. The only time that I saw our cell phones was to take pictures. We left a camera on the island and they arranged for it to be picked up. We are 3 school pals now in our 80's and look forward to spending more time the Inn next year !

We stayed when you could see daylight between the wall boards. The Inn has gone through many iterations, but has recently featured fine dining. It is fun to have a drink on the porch overlooking the stone pier and the bay beyond.

Following up on the earlier review, the GM of the Inn reached out to us right away and offered to make things right after reading about our problems with the room, which was much appreciated. While they did stumble a little on the room maintenance, the Inn is in a beautiful setting, the restaurant had fantastic food and service was friendly and professional across the board.

Recently returned from a 1 night stay at Chebeague Island Inn. Truly enjoyed the food, the outdoor views and the staff was friendly, however...room 301 had issues. For over $600 (with dinner) for a 1 night stay, the following things should not have been an issue: 1.) The hair dryer didn't work. The wife not happy on this one. 2.) The drain to the tub didn't drain efficiently, so we were standing in several inches of slowly draining water when done showering. 3.) There was no drain plug for the sink. No extra cost for the previous guest's toothpaste cap that had drained down into the sink's plumbing. 4.) The dust was so thick on the blades of the ceiling fan, that there was visible build up that made it look more like a used swiffer picker upper. For the kind of money paid, room improvements need to be made.

I’m sorry to have to write a negative review. I’ve been staying overnight at the Inn for the past five years or so and have always had a lovely time. This time however I was double charged for the room, after paying ahead of time through a third party site. Although the manager ultimately refunded the money and comped me my restaurant bill (about $50) the whole experience was distressing and poorly managed. I initially noticed the pending charge before I even checked out. I asked for an invoice and told them I wanted to make sure I wasn’t double charged. I was emailed an invoice full of zeros. I went back to the front desk and they said they would email me a corrected one which I never received. I then forgot about it and just happened to notice the additional charge a couple weeks later on my credit card bill. I spent about two hours on the phone with the Inn and various credit card companies. I was treated at best brusquely and at worst quite rudely by the front desk when I called a second time to try to resolve the issue. In the meantime I was charged a third time (for a mysterious $102), which was also ultimately refunded. The responses I got were inconsistent and concerning (the front desk told me they had no way to confirm if payment had been received from the third party- Chase Travel. When I called Chase Travel, they talked to the Inn, who told them they had received payment and that the $310 on my credit card was for service charges). I could go on. I don’t know if this was a one-time error or if other customers are being double charged. The Inn could have kept my high regard by treating me with exceptional customer service and integrity for the large error they made and the amount of time it took me to resolve it.

I unfortunately had high expectations of our over $400.00 one-night stay at the Inn and those expectations were not met. They did have a shuttle meet us at the dock once we got off the ferry to drive us up to the Inn. Our room was ready prior to check in time so that was nice. Since their website touts so many activities, I expected to get a map of the property or some direction as to what to do during our stay but that didn't happen. We ate lunch and dinner on the porch which was very nice - the food is outstanding. We could see the shoreline from the porch of the inn and wanted to check it out. However you can't walk to the beach from the Inn as you would have to cross a golf course. So, we followed the road back to the where the ferry arrived but again, no access. Since the website advertises a beach, I thought, they must have a way to get there. When we inquired about how to get to the beach - is there a path that leads there, etc,. we were told no. The person at the front desk didn't seem to have answers for most of the questions we asked relative to what there was to do at the Inn. The 'lawn games' was literally a game of corn hole. So, we decided to get a bottle of wine to share and sit on the porch. The first two bottles I picked were out of stock. The bar tender seemed less than thrilled to try and find a third. Sitting on the porch and drinking the wine was nice - there were several other people out there as well. However, no one from the Inn ever came out to check on any of the guests to see if they needed anything. The lack of service was surprising given how expensive it cost to stay for one night. I did see the bartender sitting in one of the common rooms (maybe the great room?) of the Inn on his phone - I assumed he was on a break. We needed to leave early the next morning, on the 630am ferry. We asked the person at the front desk about this and what time we should be in the lobby for the shuttle down to the dock. Her answer was, 'about 5 minutes before?' When we came down to the lobby at 620am, the lights at the front desk were out and no one was to be found. So, we just walked the short distance to the ferry which was not a big deal but again - speaks to the absolute lack of service that we unfortunately expected given the room rate. The room it self was nice and it was clean. The bathroom was huge but needed to be updated badly. The drain in the shower backed up very quickly. We had a room directly above the dining room and you could hear everything. Overall, not a great stay for us and we won't be returning.
