Very cool historic home to tour that teaches you a lot about the history of Medora and its founding family. I love touring historic homes and this one was unique to me, because it was a blend of upper class mansion and western farmstead. A good portion of the furnishings are original to the home which was great to see. When you buy your tickets at the visitors center before you go to the house make sure you go through the gallery to learn more about the family and their background before you tour the home. Staff was super helpful and happily answered any and all of my questions.
Fascinating history and characters, take your time in the interpretive center and watch the 8 min overview film. Also ask the guide at the house questions about the original owners many adventures
Beautiful and preserved! How cool it was to go back in time and see what it was like to live back then! The kids love seeing history
If you're looking for an indoor activity to do with an option to walk outdoors to see the château, do this. I enjoyed the small museum and reading about the woman whom this town was named after, Medora. Cute little shop with a few tee-shirts that made me giggle. I was the only customer that day and I went in around 3 PM. It's off season until end of May. The gate was open so I was able to walk around the château. It's beautiful. Also the female employees where super sweet. Had good conversations with them.
Chateau de Mores is a historical diamond in the rough. So well preserved. Our guide, Edward, was so knowledgeable and made us almost feel like we were there in their time. Highly recommend this as must see stop.
Very interesting! Loved touring the Chateau with my family. The kids were engaged and enjoyed it too.
100% worth the visit. Such a cool spot to see and hear about the history of Medora. I wish we had more time here! Ed was an excellent tour guide
The home of The Marquis de Mores and his Wife Medora, which he named the town after his bride. On weekends in the summer there is a History Alive program at 10:30, 1:30, & 3:30, on the porch of the Chateau, which is free but a ticket is needed to tour the Chateau. Get the story of how The town of Medora started.
