This is a historical place. They hold events once in a while which is worth going to. Many are cheap or free. It should be noted that there is nearby houses and I imagine the days of them shooting cannons and what not is over. I hope I'm wrong.

Great place to take the kids to teach them about past times. Great staff always willing to teach you what they know about the property and era. The kids also loved the animals on site.

Not really extensive but a neat little place to check out if you’re in the area.

We made an impromptu visit here today and I'm glad we did. It is quite a ways off the main hwy but it's worth a visit. We were given a very informative tour of the grounds. The buildings we were able to tour were a schoolhouse, home, kitchen, pantry, smokehouse, and outhouse. There are chickens, sheep, and a cow on the property and my kids were so happy to help feed the animals. That was the highlight of their visit. :) There is also a small museum. Even though it's small, there was a lot to see and we learned a lot.

I did not know if we should stop because he is also known for white supremacy! But we are touring NC so take the good with the bad. For time period info about farm living it was very cool with a great guide. I also like how we were able to talk about what is not talked about there with our guide. It was very informational.

The staff was very friendly and very helpful. Even though we arrived after the last tour started, she took the time to answer questions and help my daughter get info for an extra credit project she was doing.
