Stopped here during our visit to DC and we tried the onion rings, I got Steve’s steak sub and my husband got the brisket nachos. Everything was amazing! The taste the service. I would definitely recommend this place. Especially to anyone looking to eat kosher, as it can be hard to find places like that.
Overall a very negative experience. Went on a Monday afternoon around 4pm - place was completely empty and was seated almost immediately in the corner next to the kitchen.
My server was literally not serving me. I had to get up and ask the kitchen staff to take my order and for condiments, etc. The only waiter had headphones in (but he didn't ignore the one other guy who came in, odd). I had to flag him down to get the check too.
The food was the most disappointing part, it was obviously frozen beef steak and fries. I ordered the steak sub, and it was so so tough to chew. Lacked strong flavor, almost no cheese and required me to dip it in ketchup to be edible. The fries had little salt and were obv frozen then reheated.
All this for $24... Overpriced, this would be better fit as a fast casual diner with a smaller menu. You're next to a college, fast casual would help you more than this wanna be fancy stuff (the food has to taste good for that)
Since I started keeping kosher, it's been hard finding places to eat out. I was delighted to stop by Char Bar while in DC and a little sad it's so far from my usual haunts. Brisket sandwich was delicious and the service was quick and friendly.
#1 Glatt Kosher Meat Restaurant to go when in the heart of DC.Just Off off K street and 2 minutes from the White House and the Monument, this excellent Grill House will pamper you, your family and friends - even the kids will have a delicious time.
Super Fast Kitchen with excellent service brings to your table a fantastic homestyle Grill and Meat Dinner to Your Table.
The food is 5 Star ! Fresh,Delicious,Prepped to perfection plated ! And surprisingly VERY reasonable pricing!!
In DC for tour or Buissness, this is your glatt Kosher choice!!
I had the Matzo ball soup, french fries, and iced tea. The meal was good, except the soup only had one ball. The soup would have been better if it had two balls. One piece of chicken had a small bone which was unexpected. The service was good, but only 4-5 tables were occupied in the whole place after 12:30 pm during lunch. Fine with me, quite. I'll be back to try one of the burgers that looked delicious based what I saw being carried out of the kitchen.
Heartily enjoyed the nachos. Highly recommend. We shared a western burger, flavors were rich; burger was juicy and perfectly cooked. Had a nice chat with the owner. Lovely experience highly recommend. Would come back
This is a kosher restaurant, with dietary laws and restrictions observed. If you want a milkshake with your pastrami sandwich, you'll have to go somewhere else. Same for pulled, or any other kind of pork. A little expensive, but the New Yorker sandwich I had was very good.
Straight up 5 Stars!! They stop seating guests at 8:00. We got there at 8:05. They took us right in. The food came very fast!! Everything was so good!!! Especially the BBQ Brisket Nachos!!! Worth driving in from Baltimore for those!!! We were VERY satisfied with every aspect of our visit and will be back. Thank you Char Bar!!!
