Sparkling clean rooms, friendly innkeepers, great breakfast, a beautiful house, and the best location. I stayed here a couple of nights on a road trip. They were so welcoming. Julie made breakfast gluten free to accommodate my celiac disease. It was amazing. The inn is fragrance free (no air fresheners and the linens don’t smell at all). It is great for people with sensitivities. I stayed in an upstairs room that does not allow dogs for an added allergy-free bonus. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. It was quiet. I had a fridge, kettle, air conditioner, and a couple of comfy chairs. I loved walking in the neighborhood and got great recommendations for the perfect route. Fat friendly furniture. Room felt very safe for a single traveler. Convenient parking and a beautiful view. Stairs to the upstairs are steep.
Daily room service was provided only on request. Given only 1 key. Breakfast was OK but not superb. Innkeeper was present only some of the time. The Inn itself is very nice. The deer in the garden added to the ambience. The promised cookies were there only upon arrival. I'd give the stay a B.
The warmth, friendliness, wonderful breakfasts, great rooms and gardens and close location to everything was more than we expected. We were very pleased. I would definitely stay again and recommend it to friends. Thank you to Angela who’s gracious, creative spirit made the experience complete.
The place is in a very busy corner. There is no peace or quiet when you are sitting out during the day or at breakfast It’s next to Rock city and it is very busy. The place is corporate run and they seem to be in a financial bind. Cutting corners. The inn runs by a group of very young kids that are very nice and kind but no experience. They close for couple of hours in the morning and few hours in afternoon and they close the main house and 7 or 730 PM So you are stuck in your room or outside with the bugs. The breakfast is very simple, nothing to write about at all. We have been to many B&B s but this place doesn’t deserve the registoy. May be at one time it did. Over all we did ok but not we thought it would be.
The Chanticleer Inn is the BEST inn my husband and I have ever stayed at. It is beautifully decorated with lovely landscaping. We enjoyed sitting out in the garden and relaxing. It is a close walk to Ashland's restaurants, shops, and Shakespeare theaters. The delicious breakfasts are lovingly prepared by Angela. She was gracious in providing a gluten free option for my husband. We appreciated the pumpkin pecan cookies and tea that were available 24/7 in the breakfast room. Angela anticipates guests'needs and takes pride in providing an exceptional experience.
Buyer beware. Upside: room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Location was excellent and is walking distance to downtown. Downside: a bit junky. See pics. There ere scattered plastic Bins, and old tarped over objects. The front porch had piles of junk and no furniture etc. We were met at the door by a creepy emplyee with neck tatoos shorts and an old tee shirt who i think may be the a helper of some sort who welcomed us by saying "i dont know where the other guy is but over there is your room." I don't expect a team of people in tuxedos to roll out a carpet, but it clearly ended up reflecting the overall lack of any attention to detail with the whole place. It is not what I expected given the way the other reviews described the place. It had a youth hostile vibe. I definitely expected a higher level of class. Im not pissed, but it was not worth the money and definetly not a romantic getaway. Would not visit again.
The Chanticleer Inn, and its host Angela, are among the top travel experiences of my life. My husband and I chose to stay here after seeing the stellar reviews online, and the Chanticleer exceeded even those expectations. Angela is a truly compassionate human, with tremendous professionalism in her work. The beautiful, locally-sourced and property-grown ingredients in her daily gourmet breakfasts are culinary dreams! An artist herself, Angela's aesthetic perfectly informs the cozy nooks and healing gardens of the property. And oh, the property itself is remarkably situated near the top of a hill, overlooking the mountains, with a quaint little town/shopping/restaurants at its foot. No matter where else your travels have taken you, please find a reason to stay here (perhaps the vineyards or annual Shakespeare Festival) once...like me, you'll want to return again and again.
WOW! I’ve never had an experience like this. Angela is truly incredible. A genuine host, made herself available via text and was super friendly and welcoming. I stayed for a wedding and Angela loaned me some safety pins for my dress. So thoughtful! And the breakfast! The best vegan food we had in Ashland and one of the best vegan breakfasts ever. The room was awesome, the decor was sweet - the outdoor space perfect. So many thoughtful touches. We wanted to move in!
Exceeded my expectations!! I came for an artist retreat and got so much more! Jacqui and Billy were wonderful hostesses. Jacqui accommodated every single need from planning amazing art activities, delicious local restaurants, beautifully appointed
We had a great time! The theme and puzzles were entertaining and just the right amount of challenging. Thanks Eden for being the perfect âbar tenderâ host!
