I was born and raised in Ocean County NJ and these photos of the Cedar Creek Tavern and cemetery in Brookville are from June 2008. So much of this area and the Pine Barrens as a whole been tainted and weakened by the hordes of people moving into the region and the abysmal juggernaut of development since the 80s.
Was a beautiful place and quiet. Wasn't able to gp inside, which sucked but looking around and reading the signs worked. Over the bridge, there's a spot you go to where it feels as tho you're on an island. Your surrounded on 3 sides by water, and I thought that was an awesome spot to camp for the weekend even tho I don't know if it's allowed and I'm sure not, but it's a wicked hideaway. BTW, the sunset is not from that place but was the same night and thought it looked awesome after going there. The other pictures are the East and West side of Jersey. I should have taken the picture of the road and the signs on each side. Next time I'm that way, I'll add it. Last info, if you go there to do something you should not be doing, that place has a few cameras, some hidden, some not. The reason why I never went to "The Island" cause I know they are watching. So, if you're bored or in the area or driving to find historic spots, it's a good spot to check out. Just don't be disrespectful, and please pick up after yourself, have fun, and make sure you take pictures.
Buildings closed, but enough to see for a quick visit. Very clean, newly updated, historic information is well organized. Hope to see the reenactment someday.
Took a side trip while investigating the Pigmy Pines. Interesting site, the oldest still-standing bar in NJ The onsite docent was friendly and well-informed and there was helpful signage outside. We crossed the "Lawrence Line" which separates East and West Jersey on the approach road, also with signs.
Two miles down a dirt road. Signs describing the history. If you are not in the neighborhood, I won't recommend visiting.

Good historical overview of the revolution and the rolls that were played in the Cedar Bridge area. Excellent museum.
We followed a road sign and found this great historic site. Love anything that involves turning off the paved road. Very well restored building and grounds.
