A lovely beach very popular and busy on the weekends. Great tide pools at low tide both north and south of the main beach area. Fishing on the pier-no license necessary. Excellent view of Morro Rock. Lots of sea life, including whales, dolphins, sea lions, and sea otters in the kelp beds. Bring good binoculars.
Not much luck whale watching ! Did see a very small amount of movement in the distance. Nevertheless a beautiful little beach city. Good food, great antique stores.
Cayucos Beach always Beautiful. Love the sound of the waves. Also enjoy bird watching. Will be the best to spend time for the weekend
We were taking the scenic road from LA to SF and decided to make a stop at this beach. It was a great decision. The beach is stunning: great wooden pier that goes long into the sea, cozy benches along it, sandy beach, but most importantly beautiful sandy beach, awesome ocean, majestic hills in the background.
There is a free parking opportunity, a bunch of shops, a gas station, several food places. The place also had a public toilet which was free, clean and overall decent.
The place was not crowded but also not empty, people around were friendly and polite. Seems like a paradise for surfers - there were plenty of them.
The beach had some Christmas decorations, which created a pleasant mood.
Overall it is an awesome place to visit!
When you live on the Central Coast of CA, you get spoiled with all the many beaches. Since we have so many, you get either tourists, or a few locals. The beach has a pier which has an interesting history since it established Cayucos as a transit and shipping point early on. The Vets Center used to be a warehouse for the pier and then a community center, which is being restored. The beach has facilities/ bathrooms, and playground equipment. The views are nice, but the water is rough and cold, so if one wants a safer beach, that would be Avila. This small town does have a modest number of places to eat, but the stand out is Cayucos Sausage & Deli, which boasts homemade eats. As a pit stop along the way from the Big Sur /San Simeon area down to SLO itself, it is a decent choice, but nearby Morro Bay has more to offer. Cayucos, Morro Bay, Baywood, and Los Osos sort of merge to make a really nice area to explore along the coast, with all sorts of obvious or hidden places to discover and explore...like a dwarf forest for example.
Another Central Coast gem, wonderful beach, and very nice coastal town.
Nice beach 🏖 and pier, not touristy. Impressive weather forecast, sunny at 9am (was fogged in at 8:30), sun ☀ arrived on time 😊🌞 included some videos.
Wonderful experience. Only thing preventing a five star is lack of parking on busy days. Polar Bear Dip was so many more people than we thought.
Amazing weather today spent the entire afternoon with my grandchildren on the beach. Fabulous time looking through the tide pools. Showed a big red crab and 2 different types of starfish to the kids. Shared the thrill of lightly sticking a finger on
Enjoyed our breakfast croissant and avocado toast (avocado, cream cheese and tomato), my favorite and nicely prepared with at good serving of avocado.
Expresso beverages done just right and served in porcelain cups.
We ate inside at the counter, bu
Very chill place to take a break from the beach and enjoy a cold beverage. Cash-only--luckily my friend had some on him (this old millennial rarely does ;). Friendly bar tender, very cool ambiance, old west/neighborhood bar. Interesting ceiling decor
A great watering hole with perfect ocean views. At the right time of the year the view includes whale spouts. Dolphins, sea otters, sea lions and brown pelicans often frequent the area as well. The beer selection and food offerings are just what you
My husband got the pepperoni slice and was quite happy. We waited a bit for this freshly made garlic bread (size of a medium pizza) and it was worth every second of the wait! True deliciousness. We ate half for lunch and oven heated the rest with din
