Hidden gem along the roadside. Easy to see and access from the parking lot for those with mobility issues, but also a short trail to get closer for those who want to. Trail can be slippery to navigate in wet weather so good footwear recommended. Small picnic table but no facilities on site, so something to keep in mind when planning your route. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. Part of the WV Waterfall Tour.
Went in winter so it wasn't as impressive as I'm sure it is when the plants and trees are green, but it was nice and easily walkable. The drive there from Charleston was also easy and scenic - well worth the ~45 minute trip.
At 60 feet high, Cathedral Falls is one of West Virginia's tallest waterfalls. It's located just off Highway 60 with a designated parking area. The ease of access combined with the beauty of the falls makes this a must-see for anyone traveling through the area.
Very beautiful waterfall. Can climb up a hill to the top. The climb is challenging but not awful. However coming down was hard and had to pretty much slide on butt to make it down. Parking lot is small, had to park on side of road and walk over.
Small parking lot in front of falls. You can walk directly up to waterfall but need to be fit enough and surefooted. There is a side path on ground as well. Beautiful little stop, i recommend.
Very pretty, worth the time to pull off and explore. Extremely short walk from the car to underneath the falls (which were small just from the lack of rainfall, but still pretty). Enough for only a handful of cars, so it was not overly crowded. You could sit at the bench, or even view from the small bridge if you didn't want to cross the dirt or rock path to the falls bottom. I'm glad we stopped!
This is another waterfall that is pretty much right off of the road. Definitely worth the stop whether you like waterfalls as much as me or just love to be a part of nature. Doesnt cost anything to be here and during our visit it wasn’t too busy. You are able to get up really close to the waterfall which also a big plus. If you have a family, this would also be a good spot for you to go have a picnic. I’m just not sure how busy it get. There were only a few people during our visit we were able to get in and out. This is another one if go see again for sure especially if in passing.
Well worth the drive to see this beautiful waterfall. It's one of West Virginia's largest waterfalls and I happened to get here at the end of the day which left me completely alone with the falls. A high cascade that falls into a lovely amphitheater-like hollow. There is a small parking area with room for a dozen cars, a couple of picnic tables and it is a very short walk - less than 100 yards. I spent about a half hour here appreciating the falling water and picking up a few rocks to make a stack. It was perfect.
