Originally built in 1875 as a summer residence for a noted Harvard University marine biologist, this luxurious inn on an exclusive 40-acre peninsula bordering the ocean is a coastal haven of romance and relaxation. Whether you are staying in a cottage on Castle Hill’s private beach, taking time out to take it all in from the terrace, or indulging in New England cuisine in our dining room, you will be guaranteed panoramic views of the Atlantic and its sailboats floating by. Each of our 33 Newport accommodations features such luxuries as high-speed Wi-Fi, Farmaesthetics local herbal bath amenities, flat screen televisions and more. Some rooms also feature oversized soaking tubs, cozy fireplaces, and wet bars.
Just stayed here with my husband and my 11month old in the harbor house rooms. What a perfect, special vacation. The room was comfortable and beautiful, with views of the harbor right through our window. Each staff member gave impeccable service and were extremely friendly to boot. The food is extraordinary, as well as the amenities. Front desk even let us check in nice and early understanding we had a cranky baby in need of a nap. We will for sure be back to the Castle Hill Inn . Don’t skip out if you are debating on a stay!
We stayed a couple of days in this wonderful resort. Everything was perfect, impeccable service both in the restaurants and in the room. We stayed in the beach cottage and it was an unforgettable experience, perfect location directly on the private and very quiet beach. We enjoyed breakfast served in the room, while we had dinner at The Lawn restaurant. Stunning view, tasty food, attentive and friendly service. We hope to be able to return soon to be pampered again in this paradise!
Booked a last-minute beach cottage getaway and couldn’t have had a more relaxing or better escape. Beautiful waterfront cottage, breathtaking views and treated like royalty by everyone we encountered. No lunch reservations on arrival when they’re fully booked? No problem if you’re an overnight guest, as they’ll escort you to a premium table in the patio section reserved for hotel guests. Want breakfast on the deck of your cottage? It’s delivered piping hot precisely when you requested. Want to relax on their private beach? A friendly attendant sets up your covered lounge chairs, side table, umbrella and towels exactly where you want them, and brings you water and frozen grapes. Want to slip into town for a bite or shopping? Hop on the launch at their marina, and the captain will point out key sites along the way. Lunch and breakfast offerings were interesting and well-presented. If you can, make time for the included afternoon tea with freshly baked treats and tea sandwiches served in a cozy wood-panelled room off the lobby. Thoughtful amenities in the cottage included a dimmable light, umbrellas, heated bathroom floor, a deep soaking tub, a charging station, a small refrigerator stocked with free water (plus a split of champagne, wine, etc. for purchase), etc., and there’s turndown service with chocolates. Storage for clothing was rather limited if you’re planning an extended stay, but no problem for us. We come to Newport often so spent virtually all our time at Castle Hill. Loved every minute and will return.
Did not stay at the inn. Drinks on the lawn with spectacular weather was a wonderful experience. Also dined at the restaurant. The lobster bisque was meaty and tasty without being too heavy. Calamari was tender and not overloaded with breading.! Swordfish was tender and flavorful as well. One of our favorite places.
Beautiful venue. Old Newport terrace and lawn looking out over the bay into the sunset. Gracious staff, great service. But the swordfish and sea bass were overcooked, and nothing we ate made us feel like anyone really cared in the kitchen. |Go for the scene and the sunset. Cruise Ocean drive home. Spectacular setting
This review is for the casual restaurant overlooking the water. The view is stunning. The prices more so. The menu is very limited. And pricey. But the waitstaff/bartenders were the friendliest yet. It is worth a cocktail and conversation. And view!
We went there to celebrate my wife's Dad who had just passed away because he used to like it there. I bought 3 Tito bloody Mary's and it was $56.70 and there was no booze in them. The bartender poured them under the bar so no one could see. I've been going there 30+ years - not the same anymore.
Stayed here for our 1 night getaway to Newport. We stayed in the Cottage room and it was nicely private, clean and spacious. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The staff were are very pleasant and hospitable. The location makes you feel like youâr
