Castle By the Sea - Hotel in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea - 4520 N Ocean Dr, USA

We stayed at Castle by the Sea for 2 weeks and our stay was very pleasant. Our suite had a small kitchen with a full sized stove and oven. The motel has about 16 units with free parking right out front. We slept well as the bed was very comfortable. We appreciated the excellent heating/air conditioning unit and ceiling fan. |We especially enjoyed the cozy pool area. It had lounge chairs, a covered seating area, and a couple of tables with umbrellas.|The pool was heated. Our son enjoyed using the BBQ grill.|Shout out to the wonderful staff!|Valentina checked us in and seemed genuinely interested in helping us get settled. Manager Renee was great! She was polite, kind, accommodating and helpful.|Renee lent us some beach chairs and an umbrella which really enhanced our beach time.|The motel is situated on a busy street but is a very quick walk to a beautiful beach, restaurants and a great walking path along quiet El Mar street. This was one of the worse experiences at a hotel due to the extreme unfriendliness and rudeness of the main staff/customer “service” rep. Even before coming, I asked a question about restaurants, and right away the responses took a few days and were cold and not actually answering the question. I took it as “don’t bother me”, but with all the good reviews, I have the place the benefit of doubt. And then when we arrived at exactly the check in time of 3pm, the staff member had apparently just left and wrote to us very rudely that we were late and she could not stay etc etc so she had left the key in a small box. There were phone numbers to call, neither of which had a response. And then the day after when she was there, she was so rude and made us feel as though we are imposing staying there. Our key was actually deactivated and she forced us to “check” in to pay an extra deposit… I don’t know if the lady was having a horrible day and was taking it on us or was racist… but we travel extensively and I’ve never had such a rude customer service rep or owner. Plus, we are Canadian! We felt so unwelcome. On top of it, although the room was big and clean, there was never any hot water, not enough towels or change of towels during our stay and the wifi never ever worked. And when we advised the lady, she gave a whole explanation of how basically we are wrong to make these assumptions… and at the end of the stay, she almost shewed us to leave, when I asked about my deposit she very cruelly was like… “you leave your keys and once we do a thorough verification of the room and pillows and towels… and if all is good and you haven’t ruined anything we will refund you”. Which basically makes you feel like, although you are the paying guest who is actually a highly educated and well to do person with a sweet family… that you are a criminal! I could not wait to be away from the bitterness that was this woman and out of a pretty much motel with pretty pillows you need to remove so you don’t ruin and pay a steep price for! If you want to be ignored and then treated like a criminal… then this is your place. But if you are a decent person and are kind to others…. And want to be treated the same way, and really, like a normal human, do not stay here, especially not when you are on vacation.

This is my Castle by the Sea dream stay. No complaints. Everything and I mean everything was so comfortable and clean. Beautifully decorated and remodeled. Amenities galore. Staff super accommodating and friendly. Extremely close to the beach. Wonderful pool and covered seating areas. I will choose this spot moving forward. You won't be sorry.

Staff was amazing! Everything was better than expected and I will be recommending this to others. Great staff, clean rooms and excellent accommodations all contributed to this being an excellent value for your money.

Rooms are very clean . Very reasonable. Location one bock in from the beautiful beach. Service representatives there are friendly and made sure we had plenty of towels and lounge chairs for the beach. Whoever we needed our rooms cleaned we just put the sign on the door nd they were done within the hour. This is the second year staying there and it is our home away from home. Will be back next year for another fun vacation.

This hotel is less than two stars in my opinion. The linens were soiled. The bathroom was not cleaned and the hotel Staff are extremely rude.|I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. I attempted to resolve the issue several times through Expedia and it was not resolved.

The staff is very friendly and attentive, everything in the room was very clean and comfortable. We did some research online and read all the great reviews about this place, we also liked that it is located right next to the beach and is affordable. Renee at the front desk is also very kind and attentive.

Location was great! Very close to the beach and to a vibrant restaurant and bar area. The motel even offers free beach chairs and beach towels to borrow. Room nicely decorated and had a fridge and microwave in it which was handy. Pool was great to dip into when hot and area around pool nice with loungers, chairs and a gazebo in case it rains. However, we could not find anywhere to park the first night we arrived and office only open to 6pm. Carparks close by extremely expensive even over night. Office hours limited from 10am to 6pm but even during that time the office was shut twice during our three day stay, so may not be anyone around if anything goes wrong. Quite expensive per night, but then every hotel in the area seems to be expensive.
