The price for 112.00 a night is way to much room smell like smoke hard bed no shampoo I have paid 60 a night at hotels and was 10 times better save your money and back from a hard bed and drive 15 more minutes for a good bed and cheaper price

My husband and I stayed here years ago and then again recently. The rates are affordable and our room was very clean and orderly. It's located in a very small town so there definitely isn't much tourism going on but that's what I prefer. Small towns are usually peaceful and filled with polite and welcoming residents

When we lived in Charlotte 20 years ago we would go by this place on the way to the lake. It always looked so well kept. During this recent visit back we needed a place to stay that was in or near Albemarle, which had 4 big chain hotels of which 3 reviewed somewhat poorly and all 4 higher cost than this place so we looked elsewhere. Oddly, this place didn’t come up in my search of Mt Pleasant. However, once the name was punched in, it came right up with good reviews but no contact info and a prompt saying there are similar places elsewhere. WTH is Trip Advisor doing? I mention it only because you may wonder the same thing if you are assessing this place. ||I am going to contact TA about this. If I don’t get the right replies I may stop using TA. ||||(I had forgotten about this place until seeing it on the TV show Homeland a while back. If you know the show, it was where Brody found his estranged daughter working) ||||On to the review....||This place was perfect for us. ||It was spotless clean. The parking lot is spotless, not a single cigarette butt or weed or the smallest piece of trash. The room was new inside. It too was absolutely spotless. ||It is simple, not fancy, but comfortable. ||The room had new paint, new carpet, new furniture, flat screen TV with great picture. New fridge, new microwave. Comfortable King bed. New PTOC HVAC unit with no weird smells coming out, which is something we have left many hotels over. There was a jetted tub that is an added plus if you are small, pretty useless if you aren’t, but no big deal, we just needed the shower. Great water pressure and a drain that kept up. No coffee maker here. There is a good Hardees next door. We were maybe the only people staying here January 17-19th. I suspect that is because Trip Advisor has it hidden. ||You park right at your room, which is how roadside Mom n Pop motels used to be everywhere. Mt Pleasant is a quiet area. Still a sleepy little hamlet but not for much longer. Massive antique mall across the road in an old textile building. Great restaurants in the tiny downtown square. This place was nostalgic, yet new. We would definitely stay here again. We stayed in room 127.

We would so like to see the rebirth of small mom and pop motels. While this place comes close, it's missing the mark. As other reviewers noted it is clean, exceptionally so. We don't mind the lack of amenities, I carry my own shampoo anyway. We do not usually use the "hot breakfast" offered by chains, but coffee is necessary for me to start my day. With Hardee's next door, that wasn't an issue. The issue here is that this is an old motel. Only one section of rooms, "the newer building", did not smell of mold. Yes, there are smoking and non smoking rooms so be very, very clear on what you need. Then be clear you want a room in the new section. The second night of our 2 night stay the power was out in the new section. This was not the owners fault. He offered us another room but it stunk so bad of mold we would not have been able to stay in it. The second room was smaller and no discount if we had stayed in it. We would have left and found a chain motel, but again he refused to refund our money (apparently because he felt he had other rooms to offer). When I called for a reservation he quoted me one price, but the room we got was higher. He showed us the room for the quoted price and it smelled of mold also. So buyer beware. I agree with another reviewer. I wanted to like this place. On the surface it is clean and neat as a pin, but then you get below that level and it loses its charm. I would not stay here again and could not recommend it.

Although it is quite a drive for us each day, we always stay at Carolina Country Inn because it is the best place around. The rates are reasonable, the place is clean enough to eat off the floors, the location is peaceful, and the owners actually CARE about their guests. The older part of the building is not moldy, as I read another visitor wrote. The rooms might smell a bit stale in that building just from the age of it but if you turn on the air or the fan it clears right up. I was speaking to the owner and he was telling me about some of the upgrades he is planning in the near future. I can't wait to be back for Autofair in the fall !!

Scam? Be cautious. Would be 4 stars at least. Not to bad over all. But, 11 minutes after checking out. 11 minutes. They say the towels ate stain and can nit be washed. One wash rag, one hand towel, and one regular towel. My girlfriend uses temporary hair dye. It does come out when she washes her hair. She used one towel, she uses a loofah, no wash rags. Now, 11 mind after checking out. They have been washed twice in bleach and do not come clean. We have never had this problem anywhere. Now, they want 40 dollars. 40. Even if it was both towels, there was only one hand towel, and both wash rags. 40 dollars. I would be cautious of other things they may scam about.

I love this place! We had to travel during the virus and they did everything to reassure us that they were taking precautions. They had the key waiting in an envelope, everything was super clean, there was a lovely place to sit outside and eat, we just completely relaxed after a long day of traveling. The place is so comfy and homey and it's within walking distance of everything you'd need. The owners are friendly and accommodating and I can't wait to visit again.
