The staff seemed a little distant but we were seated quickly. The food was excellent. The location is a great spot to people watch. The setting is mix between a diner and a bar. Good place for a family lunch or dinner.
Food was decent; service was lacking. This restaurant was in close proximity to my hotel so quite convenient for a quick bite. I had the watermelon salad which was delicious and the fried green tomatoes were average. It would've been a better experience had the server been more attentive. I was seated right away by the lovely hostess but then didn't see a server for about 15 minutes and they weren't busy. It took another 15 minutes to get my initial water and have my order taken. Once I received my food, I never saw my server again. I had to flag someone down to request my bill. I'd check this place out again to try more dishes, but the service here seems to be on par with all the other places in Asheville - maybe customer service just isn't a thing in Asheville dining.
Excellent value terrific food good variety on the menu. Full liquor bar. Street parking out front. Very friendly staff. Family friendly.
I went there for the first time and always heard great things about this restaurant and so wanted to try it out.. I saw what was on the menu and not much to choose from.. I wanted to try the waffle chicken sandwich from the name. I was thinking this should be good. The waffle was the bun and the chicken in the middle.. the waffle was dry, which had the syrup on the side. I wish it wasn't so dry .. and the fries were good.. later thar night I got sick throwing up and on the toilet from an hr... so I don't know what it was, but I won't choose that dish again... I don't know if I will come back here.. only for a drink, maybe... my girlfriend had the burger and fries she said was ok...
We were in town for a concert and happened by Carmel's for lunch after a different restaurant had a lackluster menu. You MUST get the chicken and waffle sandwich. It is amazing. My wife liked her catfish sandwich, but after she saw my chicken and waffle sandwich and tried it, she regretted not getting it.
The atmosphere was very nice, service was very good, and the food was delicious! I got the daily special which was the beer battered fish and chips. The batter on the fish was so delicious. It was fluffy and crisp, the fries seem like they were freshly sliced potatoes with a nice light seasoning on them. It's served with house made tater sauce. I'm more of a cocktail sauce kind of person. My server actually went through the trouble of making cocktail sauce for me. Due to the fact they don't normally have that on hand. My husband got the chicken and waffles. I would have taken a photo of his, but he started eating it before I had the chance. He really enjoyed it and so did I. He let me have a bite. It comes with 2 large waffles, 2 nice size fried chicken breasts with a very tasty and crispy breading on them. Maple syrup and he got the fries which had a cumin seasoning on it. This is the first time we have been to a restaurant that seasons the fries based on the entree. Overall, we had a very good experience and will be coming back the next time we are in Asheville.
We loved everything we ordered. The deviled eggs for the appetizer were amazing. We also had the chicken and waffles which were amazing. My wife had the bibb salad with smoked salmon. It was really good as well. If you are around then check this place out.
Amazing food and service! Our waiter was very attentive and helpful when ordering. Definitely dine here if you’re in the Asheville area.

Huge space with a really warm, cozy, old-school pub atmosphere. Food was phenomenal. Fried green tomatoes were definitely worth it, perfectly fried with a really amazing savory-sweet sauce. Beef stroganoff was out of this world, perfect portion size
We went here for brunch on Saturday. Parking is just outside the restaurant, wasnât extremely crowded. I had the catfish poboy and my friend had buttermilk chicken sandwich with biscuit gravy on the side. We enjoyed our food. The fish was fresh and

Casual spot with an inviting atmosphere. Outdoor seating with shade umbrellas. Frequent live music. Inside, the original brick & vaulted ceilings with wooden beams marry well with rustic & eclectic art. Approachable menu with great food, thoughtful c

Canât believe I just found this hidden gem not far off of Thompson Street! One of the few coffee shops open at 7 am with a variety of coffee/espresso based drinks, hot cocoa bar, and breakfast tacos. Got a dirty chai and egg/cheese burrito - both
