We stayed in the main building and the room was very clean and comfortable. The little outdoor seating just outside the sliders was perfect. We were welcomed warmly and provided with an unexpected bowl and treat for our dog. Attention to detail was much appreciated! We walked the property and were delighted. Property is nice and quiet and well maintained. The area where the cabins are located is nicely landscaped, they have a nice pool and an inviting outdoor fireplace/seating area. It We will definitely return when next in Carmel.

Our new cabin #68 was fabulous, super clean, and quiet. Great bed, nice furniture, spacious and spotlessly clean bathroom, outside from our patio we could enjoy the lovely gardens and big trees. The whole grounds was a nice down-to-earth departure from the busy Carmel centre. We could really unwind at Carmel River Inn. The rustic old-style cabins also look sooo cute. Will try those next time! Thank you!

A remarkable gem nestled adjacent to Carmel. The operators of this combination motel and neighborhood of cottages do a wonderful job of creating a place to stay that is cozy, clean, and quiet. They were also very welcoming of our pet dog during the stay. -Cottage was nicely furnished. - Good shower water pressure & plenty of hot water even with multiple people sharing cottage. -Bed and linens were good shape, firm mattress.

This is a great place to stay, very quiet, secure and comfortable. The space (a cottage) I got was spacious, very clean and comfortable. Staff is very helpful, respectful and friendly. Being a pet friendly hotel is a great plus, they give you a blanket for the pet, a couple of treats and poopy bags. The cottage has a little fenced yard where the pet can safely hang out. parking is accessible and the cottages have their own parking. A shopping center is nearby to get anything needed. Overall the experience staying at this place was great and positive, definitely recommend this place to stay and enjoy the area.

From the moment you drive onto the property, it's like stepping through a portal. The winding road leads you through fairytale gingerbread cottages that look like they were plucked from the pages of a storybook. Further on, you reach the glamping cabins, which to me was like living out my dreams of being in an Indiana Jones film but in luxury style. All throughout the property there are little gems; fountains, fire pits, flower walks...everything here is secluded and quiet but you can still feel that ocean air. The staff was quite literally the greatest I've come across (Michael, here's looking at you!). Truly, it was an unforgettable experience. Every time I'd walk the little lanes I'd find myself ooh-ing and ah-ing over the quaintness of it all. HIGHLY recommend!!!

The turnoff for the Inn was a bit hidden, but the location was excellent, we could get anywhere in Carmel and even Monterrey in about 10-15 minutes. Check-in was easy and reception was lovely. Our room had recently been renovated (2 queens) and was an end room, so we had windows on 3 sides. Being able to listen to the river was very relaxing (though the frogs get really loud at night!). Only suggestion is be careful of the stair railing, the stairs are steep and the railing was loose.

The cottages are the best for the ultimate in privacy and that luxurious feeling of having your own mini home! They have everything you need inside the cottages and they are very quiet and you couldn't ask for a better place to stay ANYWHERE in the state of California! Honestly, I'm not sure if any place anywhere even outside of California offers mini cottages to rent but you cannot beat what Carmel River Inn has to offer! It beats any 5 star hotel room where you can still hear what either your neighbor to your right or left, above you or below you is doing, where in the cottages, you never hear anyone!!!!||Mike Alonzo, the general manager is the coolest cat ever also and is always very accommodating of your needs! My wife and I have been coming here for years and will continue to be the ONLY place we will stay when we vacation in Carmel!!!!

Five-star landscaping! Yes, this motel is the After version of the one in Schitt’s Creek, but it’s more than that. It’s real. It’s clean, it’s comfortable, it’s beautifully maintained indoors and outdoors, and its staff members are lovely people. I felt very safe here. I so appreciated the beautiful greenery outside - it’s worthy of a highly ranked botanical garden, and it made for a lovely walk in the evening. I found the motel to be handy to shops, restaurants, grocery stores, and gas stations. Thank you!
