We enjoyed our visit to this well-maintained and beautiful historic site. My first visit was 41 years ago (the paint was still wet) and I am happy to say that the beauty of this place remains. The basilica is very beautiful and I enjoyed a discussion with the docent present who shared her knowledge of this mission and the establishment of many of the missions in California. The altar back is magnificent. The grounds are so beautiful you shouldn’t miss this.
We came here for a homeschool field trip. The grounds are beautiful and very informative. The courtyard is enormous. The gardens were full of flowers, hummingbirds and butterflies. The short video about the history was very helpful. There were several weddings the day we went but we were able to peek in the Basilica between ceremonies. Our family felt truly blessed to be in the presence of Saint Junipero Serra's final resting place. The experience was better for our older children because they understand more but we will come back again.
Nice place with a small courtyard to walk around!
Even if you are not a very religious person or maybe a different tradition like me, I am from Hare Krishna, I still recommend stopping by here and taking a walk if you are nearby. It's a very nice and peaceful atmosphere, you can sit, think and pray.
Beautiful mission. Lot of history. Massive courtyard. Great learning experience for children. Junipero Serra is buried at the mission.
The mission’s cemetery is an interesting study, the bell ringing is solemn and fun. Dogs are not allowed inside. The store is full of religious paraphernalia but most of it is not very interesting.
This is a nice place to stroll through on a beautiful Californian afternoon (or morning). The architecture is amazing, the church is peaceful and the gardens are beautiful.
Nice location to enjoy live performances. The only downside is that restrooms are limited. There a lot of interesting historical facts around the place. After all, it is a museum as well.
This is a beautiful place. Lovely grounds and buildings. We were there for a wedding, which, was also beautiful. Definitely worth a stop and to explore.

My favorite beach on the California coast! I prefer it in the winter when it's less crowded. There's always, always, people on it though. Beautiful waves, soft sand, lots of space to walk at low tide. It's a great place to bring your dog but be aware
