I was sorry to read that others had a poor experience here. My sense is that the hotel is completing a renovation, and maybe others got one of the darker, un-renovated rooms? Reading the good reviews here made me decide to take the chance. So glad I did! Husband and I went on a Wednesday (just before Memorial Day) and price was great. Our room was just lovely, clearly renovated, with many beautiful touches. After having seen the negative reviews, when making my own reservation, I made sure to request an upper-floor room, which we received. Getting a corner room made it even better. Big thumbs' up, at a great price! Cute little basket of morning goodies placed at the door in the morning, and in-room coffee maker. Refrigerator, too, was nice.||Highly recommended, and maybe in "special comments" on the reservation form, ask for a 2nd floor (and corner!) room.

The inn is dated and can use an update in furniture and bedding. The location is a block or two from the main street and is in a quieter part of town. The bathroom is surprisingly updated and clean. On the day we were leaving I discovered a basket full of breakfast treats for us. That was a very nice touch.

Best deal in town. The location is perfect. Walking distance to everything in Carmel. Rooms are cute and dated, but perfectly clean and functional. Breakfast snacks in a basket outside the room in the morning was a sweet surprise. Booking online was easy. Check in was a breeze. Front desk staff was professional and friendly. At half the price of other basic rooms in town, we will definitely stay here again.

Our recent stay at this hotel in Carmel was quite disappointing. The room was in poor condition, with an uncomfortable mattress where you could feel the springs, thin towels, and outdated, dingy furniture. The only window in the room looked out over a junkyard, which didn’t add to the experience. While the price might have been tolerable if it were $200-$250 a night, we paid $906 for two nights—a rate that felt exorbitant given the overall condition.||Additionally, the front door and bathroom window face the parking lot, leading to a lot of noise from cars coming and going throughout the night. On the positive side, they did deliver a small cold breakfast basket, which was a nice touch. However, overall, this hotel did not meet our expectations and is not one we would recommend.

Posting the same review I wrote for YELP||If you have kids this is probably one of the only places in downtown Carmel by the Sea to stay so there's that. My family and I stayed here for a few nights back in April and had some issues that we reported to the staff and emailed the manager about and basically got zero help from them so I decided to finally post a review here.||Upon check in we found leftover items in the fridge which showed that housekeeping doesn't actually clean much. There was not weather strip on the bottom of the entry door which not only allowed heaps of dirt to enter the tile floor and turn our feet black, but also allowed for us to hear the very loud leaf blowing that took place early the next morning. It sounded like the leaf blower was happening inside our room which woke up my 4 year old and 3 month old baby. ||Let's see what else...there was a huge loogie that was sitting in the drain of the bathroom sink, soap scum on the corners of the shower and light bulbs burned out. When we were checking out we were hoping to talk to the front desk about our issues but no one was at the desk so we called afterwards and explained our situation. They told us to email the manager which we did, we were asking for a partial refund mainly for the lack of cleaning but the manager never responded so maybe they wills see this! For nearly $600 spent, I don't think it's outrageous to expect a room to be cleaned. Save your money stay somewhere else! Customer service is lacking, cleaning was abhorrent and clearly management doesn't care about guests and just wants $$. If you have kids, spend your hard earned money elsewhere and just deal with the traffic to get into town. This place is NOT IT and they DON'T CARE about their customers.

This hotel is a great little hotel. We were able to get a last minute stay in this hotel because we were unhappy with our stay at another hotel in Carmel. We were very happy. Quiet even with windows open and ceiling fan. Close walk to restaurants and shops.

Excellent! The office staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The housekeeper was also outstanding. The room was well designed and the motel was very well located. I recommend the motel fully. I was very happy with everything. An additional nice touch was the breakfast baskets left each morning

Great location!! Ample parking. The room smelled of mildew and the quilt was damp. Even after opening the window and running the fan, the room smelled. Bed mattress was just ok.
