Our family (four adults) loved our stay in the roomy Dolores Cottage 2. Charming, clean and comfortable, with a delightful view of the ocean from the deck--and with the cool weather, we also enjoyed the electric fireplace! The access to town and the beach were terrific..we parked at the cottage's designated space and never moved the car. Thank you!
Simple rustic charm. Great location close to Ocean Ave but far enough away for quiet. |This is an older quaint inn composed of small cottage buildings with several rooms in each, most rooms with a fireplace, an especially great choice in the wetter months (typically November through April). |Our room #21 was quiet having a vintage ~1950s shower with accompanying low water pressure. |Note the small touches that count, such as glass water glasses (each in a vintage ‘Sanitized’ wax paper sleeve - love it) and glass coffee mugs - nice to not have floppy disposables found in major hotels. Also heavy framed windows and a practical entry half-door for airing the room without leaving the door open. |On-site parking for some vehicles (first-come). |Front desk attendant, Augustina, was very helpful and friendly.|The inn is located in central Carmel just a couple of blocks north of Ocean Ave, with many high quality dining establishments within a few minutes walk and of course the many galleries and shops along Ocean Ave close by. |Driving southbound into Carmel from Monterey, accessible via Carpenter St so as to avoid the traffic on Ocean Ave.
I needed a room for one night while passing thru Carmel and was glad to have stayed here. It's just 2 blocks away from all the shops/restaurants in Carmel. The room was a bit outdated (carpet/furniture) but overall the room we stayed in was very spacious and had a fireplace which was enjoyed upon returning from a cold night out. The room and bathroom were very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Check-in was very easy, parking on site was great.
Overall, for a night stay or two this would be a great option!
Disappointing room although spacious |cold despite the fireplace, dated decor. Worst was the tiny bathroom.Poor water pressure in tired shower cubicle with a shower curtain ! Haven’t seen one of those for 20 years … I love history and quirky but this is just tired and needs updating. Having said that it was clean.Short walk into town and limited parking on site, but on street parking too.
The difference between a one star and a four star experience at a highly outdated hotel is the service. This place has had no updates in the last 40 years I would say; carpets look like they are from the 70s. If they couple this with excellent service, you could say it has its charm. However, the service was the worst I've seen in a while.
To put things into context, I paid almost $700 for two nights at this place as I was attending a wedding in Carmel. Check-in time is advertised as being at 3, however, when I tried checking in at 4, they didn't have my room available. My room wasn't ready until 5, which was highly inconvenient as I was on a tight schedule. They said the cleaning crew was slow that day... I had to ask whether that would mean they offer a discount, but they said they can't do that. The irony is that when I was checking in, I had to sign a waiver saying I would be charged $100 for each hour that I check out late. I pointed this out to them to which they offered a late checkout, which I didn't need as I had to be back at the airport. If I pay for a room from 3pm on a Friday until 11am on a Sunday, that's when I would like access to that room; if I don't get that access, I expect some sort of a refund.
I do not recommend this place.
Très jolies petites chambres, tout est atypique. Vraiment top. L'accueil est bien, le confort également.
The town is nice and the beach here is breathtaking. The staff that welcomed us was friendly. However, the hotel is aging and there’s no amenities. There is also no drinking water (cold or hot) at the hotel. No breakfast. You will have to walk to the nearest gas station to buy water or any food. Everything seems very dated. Price is expensive but average in this little town.
The Inn is so cute and totally adorable! I loved the fireplace in my room. Great service all over and very nice location near the downtown. Highly recommend

Such a pleasant stay at Tradewinds! This is a dog friendly inn on Mission street, just a few blocks from great shopping and dining. The hotel was quiet and my room had partial (and beautiful!) views of the ocean. The check in service was great and ea
My favorite beach on the California coast! I prefer it in the winter when it's less crowded. There's always, always, people on it though. Beautiful waves, soft sand, lots of space to walk at low tide. It's a great place to bring your dog but be aware

Really perfect place for kids to play. The water is warm and clean, and there are a lot of pelicans resting in the river. Besides, you may explore the sea creatures in the rock such as crabs, hermit crab, fish, and sea ââurchin. You can also rela
