This place was so quaint and clean. The rooms and grounds were spotless. The personal touches to the property and rooms are what make this stay amazing. For example they deliver personalized ordered breakfast baskets to your room each morning to start your day. Also the free electric bikes were such a fun way to see the beach area. This hotel is located in a peaceful quiet residential area and steps from the beautiful beach. The hotel lobby bar also had a wonderful selection of wine and liquor. It’s location is close to downtown but away from the hustle and bustle. You can easily walk to downtown Carmel for dinner or the hotel also offers complimentary car rides if needed. I recommend opening your windows at night and hear the waves crashing. All the workers were amazing and friendly and accommodating. We stayed in two different rooms and our family of 6 enjoyed our experience very much. Hope to come back soon someday.

Location is perfect and the reason I returned to this hotel. I have stayed several times as the guest of the former Colonial Terrace so knew the rooms and the hotel well. Instead of booking through the website, I called the hotel directly to secure the exact room I wanted with the balcony and the ocean view. At this point, my trip was flexible so getting that room determined the dates we traveled. I was assured by Vincent that I would receive that room. I also made sure that he understood there would be three guests (family trip) and that we would need either a sofa or rollaway for the third guest since the hotel does not have a double queen room. When we arrived, the room we were given was not at all the room I asked for and the "sofa" was a very small loveseat. The room was also small I was then told that a rollaway would not fit in the room??? We stayed three nights and I finally rearranged the room on my own to allow a rollaway in the room and insisted that it be brought in. I was then charged by the hotel for three nights for a rollaway. If you look at the website, you will see the luxury of rugs in the space. My room had no rugs so we dealt with sand on the LVT floor the entire time. The workers in the hotel were polite and kind but management was anything but. There is so much nice about this hotel that management could have corrected the error and thereby changed my view and my memory of the stay first by getting the room right and giving me the room I paid for then being kind about issues that arose because they did not. Based on this stay alone, I will not stay there again nor recommend it.

Wonderful place to stay in Carmel…. A bit of a walk to Ocean Ave(main drag in Carmel) however they have a very nice Mercedes to drop you at various locations in Carmel. Very nice staff. We stayed there for 3 nights and I would not hesitate to rebook. Food is very good and it is a safe and quiet area.

The rooms are smaller so I wouldn’t recommend for families, but it was perfect for me and my husband. This hotel is so close to our favorite beach so every morning we walked the entire beach. It’s a little over 2.5 miles so we earned our wine filled afternoons. Chef Diana has an amazing menu with a wide range of menu items at their restaurant, “Secoya”. She made sure we were enjoying our meals and has the cutest accent. Definitely give this place a shot next time you’re in Carmel-by-the-Sea!

This cozy hotel, one block from the beach and in the quaint city of Carmel, was the perfect place for us to regroup after a long day in the car! The room was beautifully decorated and so comfortable with a king size bed and nice sheets and pillows! They were able to accommodate a toddler and made special efforts on her behalf! The staff were so friendly and even kept the restaurant open so we could enjoy a hot meal without the hassle of going into town.

My stay here was fantastic. The room was great, the amenities were great, the location is perfect, and every staff member was extremely helpful and attentive. The hotel is just one block away from the beach. The room had everything we needed. Breakfast was included and delicious. The staff members gave us all the suggestions on how we could enjoy our stay to the fullest, including complementary car rides to and back from downtown if we wanted to go out for a drink. Quin was extremely helpful and suggested cool spots to go on the beach, and told us we even had a flashlight in the room in case we wanted to go for a walk at night (no street lights in the part of town).

This is one of the best hotels in Carmel. The location is amazing. So close to Carmel Beach!!! Free electric bikes, amazing outdoor dining and the beds are some of my favorite things about Carmel Beach Hotel. Their little lobby bar has a really high end tequila and whiskey collection. So good!

I wanted to love this hotel… And if you are a couple just going for a few nights (not staying in room 20) you probably will like it. But as a military service member trying to plan a wedding in Carmel from Germany, the lack of communication, coordination, and an utterly inhospitable nature plagued us from the start. The first few times I emailed Vincent about booking 4 rooms for various points during the week he told me my emails kept going to his junk folder. Then, the room prices he sent me, which he stated where just an “average” were actually $100 less PER NIGHT than the final charge. I should have realized they would change the prices based on the day and add all sorts of taxes but I had no idea that would add more than $100 per night to the price originally quoted. Additionally, we asked about doing our wedding dinner in the hotel restaurant and never received a response (this was probably for the best). Once we arrived, the hotel room they placed us in was the size of a shoebox (room 20) and over $600 per night. The room had a bad odor and the shower lacked any pressure. Mind you we are a bride and groom there for a whole week to get married spending about $9,200 total for our guests to stay there…. I only knew how bad our room was because when I went to check my parents into a room in the same price category the following day, I saw that their room was 3 times the size of ours. Only after asking the front desk to switch us into a bigger room 3 days on did they actually move us. Their attitude was not very hospitable either, we were more of a burden than a happy couple celebrating their marriage. Lastly, when some friends of mine tried to do something nice the cost quoted was absolutely ridiculous. My maid of honor wanted to order organic rose petals to the hotel and just asked if a member of staff could spread them on our bed for our arrival – she was quoted $165 to do this. My boss wanted to order a bottle of wine to our room to celebrate – he was quoted $200. I was so embarrassed when he called to tell me that he was sorry but that seemed too much for one bottle of wine. They did upgrade my maid of honor for two nights, so that was nice as it gave us a suite to get ready in. Also, at the end of our stay, they took $200 off of one hotel room bill but I am not really sure why. Overall, it was the worst hotel stay I’ve ever had and I am so sad I had my family stay here for our wedding. Please give your business to another hotel in Carmel. Every other service in Carmel (dinner location, wedding service, flowers, cake, etc.) was amazing and the locals noted that this hotel already had a poor reputation. Either way, I am happily married and got to do it in the most beautiful place on earth. I hope this hotel finds its way back to hospitality in the future, but for now, stay away.
