Great location. Room was nice enough. Breakfast was poor. You would think that for the cost of the hotel and location they bring the breakfast quality up to at least an average level. It is a very large hotel occupying several floors accessible by two streets.
Great location and close to everything in downtown. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The decor is nice and fitting to the area. The building is old so one can hear everything, but noise from outside is not bad. I have stayed here twice and always have been comfortable and satisfied. There are many opportunities for lodging in Carmel, this this place an opportunity.
We went during the once-in-a-lifetime heatwave. The hotel has no AC and our room was hot and stuffy. We requested a fan and the front desk had one sent up. Thank goodness it gave us some relief during the night. We paid extra to have a room with a fireplace (LOL) and a balcony. The large balcony was wonderful and we enjoyed sitting out and watching the sunset in the evening.|The room was clean and we were required to tell the front desk every morning if we needed new towels, trash pickup, etc. Some days it was done and some days it wasn't. We needed toilet paper and Kleenex and were told that it would be after 8:30 a.m. before someone could bring them to our room. I had to get dressed and walk down the steep hill to the front office to pick them up. |Overall, we enjoyed our visit. For $400 plus a night, the service could have been a little better.
This hotel is great. Fantastic location, the room was incredibly clean (it did have a musky smell but not a "dirty" one), very friendly staff, comfy beds, good wifi etc. However, one thing let it down. There was a very loud whooshing noise every now and then, I believe it was when someone was using hot water elsewhere in the hotel. It woke us up on both nights of our stay, and I sleep with earplugs in. A real shame and something that needs addressing by the hotel.
Staff was great: polite, attentive and conscientious. This room was quite possibly the cleanest hotel room I have ever stayed in. I have life-threatening food allergies, and I felt totally safe using the table. Surfaces literally shined.
They don’t allow pets, which is why I chose this hotel, as I also have a life-threatening allergy to dogs and most hotels and motels in Carmel allow them.
The shutters on the windows unfortunately did not block light enough, so I had a very difficult time sleeping.
It was also very loud. I am unfortunately a very light sleeper. The street isn’t noisy at night, but the walls are poorly insulated and all of the doors and cupboards slam. I could hear every time a door or cabinet was closed in the nearby rooms as well as every step on the balcony /walkway outside. The bathroom door needed to be planed and wouldn’t latch if you didn’t pull it closed very firmly, which made a loud noise. (Room 204) The mini fridge was also very old and quite noisy when it ran. It was, however, incredibly clean, just like everything else in the room.
My second night I turned my white noise machine up almost as high as it would go and also put earplugs in at 6 AM when neighbors started walking around and closing doors. This made the noise level a little more tolerable, so I got a couple more hours of sleep than the night before.
The location is amazing. It’s a very small Carmel-sized block away from Ocean, which is the main street in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Wonderful restaurants and shops are close at hand. Most of my favorite art galleries in the world are located in Carmel-by-the-Sea, with an easy walking distance of this little Inn.
I think it was overall a good value for the money. My husband sleeps more deeply than I do, and he wasn’t overly bothered by the noise.
We recently stayed at this lovely hotel for three nights. Loved all the beautiful flower boxes and flower beds. We enjoyed the fireplace and private patio. Luis, at the front desk was very helpful and accommodating.. didn't want to leave ...
We arrived at the hotel around 9:30 pm. We checked in and went to our very small room and were surprised that the window was open and we did not see if there was even a window because it was blocked by a table. We thought we only had screens. I called the desk and asked where the window was. he said it was open and we could slide it closed. My husband was able to get around the table and slide the window shut. I then asked where the thermostat was for the AC. I was told there was no AC. The room was hot, this was a motor lodge type place and our room was right off the street. We did not feel safe having to leave the window with just a screen open right near the street. We booked this through a 3rd party reseller, but for $404 for a night we expected a lot more.
Just stayed there last weekend and here are the pros and cons.||Pros:|Excellent location to shops, restaurants, and beaches.|Room was clean and had a gas fireplace with a nice supportive bed.|Friendly front desk staff.|Cons:|One of the worse included breakfasts ever. Sponge like eggs, low quality selection of breads, orange juice didn't taste real.|Awkward multilevel floor plan. We walked up the stairs from the first floor to the second floor but had to take the elevator to the third floor where the breakfast room was located.|Blankets should be called bed sheets. Wow, soooo thin. Had to put on more clothes to keep from freezing.|Very difficult to log into WiFi. Entered log in number and room number several times, but could not log in. Had to go to front desk where staff showed me a very faint Agreement Terms box that had to be checked before I could log in. Why didn't they tell me at check in?|Narrow parking spaces.|No air conditioning.||Just me 2 cents.

Such a pleasant stay at Tradewinds! This is a dog friendly inn on Mission street, just a few blocks from great shopping and dining. The hotel was quiet and my room had partial (and beautiful!) views of the ocean. The check in service was great and ea
This is a very nice hotel. Staff is very friendly and accommodating, the rooms are nice sized and clean. Oversized tub was very nice and relaxing. Very convenient for walking in "downtown" Carmel-by-the-Sea. Overall a very nice, quiet hotel, I would
My favorite beach on the California coast! I prefer it in the winter when it's less crowded. There's always, always, people on it though. Beautiful waves, soft sand, lots of space to walk at low tide. It's a great place to bring your dog but be aware
Sophisticated and cool with unusual, unique, quality merchandise. Several lines are Italy direct exclusives. I went in to purchase their vegetarian make up (no chemicals) and the soy based nail colors but found so much more. There are gift items for

Really perfect place for kids to play. The water is warm and clean, and there are a lot of pelicans resting in the river. Besides, you may explore the sea creatures in the rock such as crabs, hermit crab, fish, and sea ââurchin. You can also rela
