We absolutely love Professor Juan, Coach Marcia and Coach Mario!!! We saw immense difference in our kids in just 1 week! They’re patient with the kids! Amazing family! 🫶🏼
Professor Juan is such a great teacher. His wife Marcia and son Mario also teach and they are just as awesome. He has such patience with the young students. My son started 2 years ago and has learned so much. He knows how to protect himself and he has gained confidence. I have also seen has Professor Juan teaches the young adults. He helps them gain better skills and just makes everyone feel confident.
I had a difficult time finding a good gym while on a work trip in Tampa. I spoke to Juan and he was more than hospitable and welcomed me to train for the two days I was in town. Great people, challenging rolls and an amazing culture. Highly recommend if you are looking for a gym in the area!!!
Great place! Great instructors! Great kids! It’s more than just a class, it’s an experience and you get not only a coach but you get the whole family of professors who teach jiu jitsu and life lessons with patience and expertise.
Checkmat Jiu Jitsu St Pete is great! Professor Juan is world class. It's A welcoming environment for people of all levels, lots of higher ranked belts to roll with. Excellent instruction. Stop in for a class if you are in the area you won't regret it!
Love this place. Everyone is kind and supportive. I felt welcomed since the first day. I go to the adult classes and my kids go to the kids program as well. We’ve been here a little under a year and the progress and discipline my daughters have gained is so fun to watch. Professor Juan, Mario and all the other coaches are amazing. Can’t say enough good things about this program and the people.
Checkmat St Pete is the best place to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in FL! You will get the best instruction from Professor Juan, and you will unlock knowledge and abilities you never thought possible. It's great for kids as well, as BJJ teaches discipline, safety, and self defense. Coach Marcia, is the best kids coach around and takes great pride in coaching kids. % stars all around!
Professor Juan and the other instructors are incredible with our children. They do a wonderful job teaching bjj and all of the important lessons that go with self-defense. I highly recommend bringing your children to a class to try it out.
