Caribbean Resort by the Ocean - Hotel in Hollywood - 313 Hayes St, USA

The worst hotel experience in my entire life, and I've stayed at over 100 hotels. Overcharged, paying almost $400 a night-after agreeing to an nice room-arrived to find that I had been moved--without my knowledge nor consult. I had called 17 times over the previous two weeks and no one ever answered the phone. At least 10 of those times I left the extended message saying this is my message number eight, number nine, number 10 etc. no one ever responded. When I arrived, I was shown to a different room. Immediately upon entering the room with the manager, I could smell a foul smell that was as if something had died, maybe there was a dead rodent behind the furniture. I immediately commented on it and the manager tried to say it was Cleaning equipment. I told him point-blank that is not a cleaning smell. No offer to move me, have the room checked for the horrendous smell, cleaned - nothing. I left the door open all day, hoping the smell would dissipate but it did not. I had some friends over that evening and one after another immediately said "Oh my God what is that horrific smell?" Several people said it smelled like mold, including a homebuilder/developer and that I needed to leave that room, but by this time the management had left. I closed the door and spent most of the evening out. When I entered the room again, the smell was overwhelmingl. So although I was exhausted, I didn't want to get sick, so at 12:30 at night, I had to pack up my things and drive home because I could not stay in that room. At 1:45 AM I texted the hotel manager on his personal cell and told him I had left because of the, overwhelming mold smell. I requested a refund and my request was dismissed. That room was not fit for my dog. The hotel is old and needs to be refurbished. The one bathroom in the bar area is a disgrace. Further, there is no alcohol at the bar -- only make believe alcohol, the food is only a few items- frozen chicken nuggets, frozen, french fries frozen hotdog, etc. the only thing they serve is what can be popped in the microwave for a minute or two. As other people have mentioned there's also a parking fee which no one mentioned for guests. This is the only commercial establishment I've ever seen rooms on the second floor without an elevator to take you to the second floor. I would think this is against code. It is absolutely not compliant with federal disability laws. I do not recommend that anyone spend even one dollar at this establishment, especially in light of the fact of the dishonest management. A complete waste of my money. So many nice places to stay in the area-less expensive than this--this is not one of them. I do Not recommend.

The hotel was great for the location. Steps from the boardwalk… Nicks Bar and Grill and other night life… just didn’t explore much. Our first room smelled like mold. There were water flies in the shower and several other bugs that kept biting. The front desk had told me it was typical and they would bring a utility grade dehumidifier/ purifier but we had to leave the room. When I went back the gentleman was gone but a woman was there and she gave us a new room. Much better. There were a lot of passerby’s walking and groups at the hotel. The suite area was supposed to be locked but we found people wandering with the open date when we left. It was great for a one night stay just questioned the cleanliness and security at|Times.

The place is very close to the Hollywood Boardwalk (its on the northern side of boardwalk). It was very clean, and served its purpose for us. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom had good water pressure and was very clean. The kitchenette suffices and has enough dishes for two people. Dislikes: (minor) The fan was weak and could not feel the air at high. The TV discolored for no apparent reason. Do not leave with your vehicle (or at all) if you stay there on the 4th of July. They sell parking spots and it's agitating to get a spot and your car gets locked in. They do have an attendant to get you in and out, but prepare for it to take a while. The amount of people that flood the beach and stay is overwhelming. The county closes the south bound lane of Highway A1A (Ocean Drive).

I had a good experience with staff, I got right into my room. Staff was perfectly pleasant and accommodating. My first room the ac didn't work, the window was left open in the bathroom and it was very hot. Fridge didn't work and we needed it. They moved me down the hall. I appreciated that. I thought it was very moldy smelling, but the fridge worked, and so did the ac. The TV remote was useless. You have to turn the channels by hand. 3 minutes into my shower, I had no hot water... and it never returned. There's live music right outside the door, wasn't aware of that one. And there is no coffee pot!!!! I know that are tired of seeing me in the office, and I'm not going again. I always try to give grace, but when necessary amenities are not checked before a guest goes into a room. That's just bad. I can't see how all of those things just went out on me? I'm leaving at 3am. So. It'll have to be ok. But wouldn't stay here again.

I reviewed this resort last year and gave it a good review. This time we got room 101 and it was disgusting. First of all the door would not lock from the inside, so we felt unsafe all night as Hollywood is a pretty sketchy crowd, a piece of the blind was missing so people could look into your room. Lots of rust, hair in shower and just overall an awful experience. We ended up checking out and getting a refund for the last night. I will never stay here again.

Positive: Few steps to the beach Negative: You have to pay $21 per night for parking which they don?t tell you about. Tiki bar is only beer and wine. Room is very small but it works for a night sleep other than shower taking 20 minutes to get hot Staff is extremely rude and not helpful

Mixed feelings on this review. Gave them the benefit of the doubt in a 4 instead of a 3. Probably would give a 3.5 if possible. The ambiance was actually amazing as well as the location. The room was actually perfect for what we were there for and that was a quick evening before catching our cruise the next day but would have met the needs for a 3-4 day trip as well. Love the little kitchen. The guy that checked us out was polite l, courteous and had a good vibe to him. ||The drawbacks. The bed was the biggest and I’m there to sleep and rest so that was a drag but thankful only one night. I have slept on worse but I’d give it a 4/10. The little bar there has so much potential with location and comfort. Could literally keep your guests right there if you had a better operation. The bartenders the night we were there were so slow and I mean slow because I’m very careful when I write anything negative about another and their job. One of them had zero energy like she was on sleeping meds. The drinks were horrible but reasonably priced if they were good drinks. ||I liked the live music and the guy was typical average for that kind of venue but super genuine and cool about what he was doing. ||I won’t lie, I would stay here again. The location is tough to beat with some great restaurants very close and the price was pretty solid. I could make the bed work for a 2-3 night trip for those conveniences.

I booked this for my adult son who is legally blind. The first thing to note is that the short flights of steps onto the property are quite treacherous for anyone who is blind or otherwise disabled because they lack handrails. While the property is well-located, it is not well kept. Moreover, for reasons unknown, they have failed to refund our $250 deposit. My repeated calls to the front desk have gone unanswered and my (approximately 12) messages have not been returned, apparently necessitating that I sue for return of the $250.
