Captain Simeon Potter House- Historic Bed and Breakfast - Featured Reviews (47)
My husband and I recently enjoyed a stay here. The home has been very meticulously restored. The accommodations in the rooms are definitely on par with a 5 star hotel. The beds are comfortable, with luxurious linens. The breakfasts were excellently prepared with fresh organic ingredients.. But what we enjoyed the most was meeting Sarina. She’s a generous hostess and her hospitality comes from a genuine place. I enjoyed talking to her so much that I can honestly say I found a friend in Newport! I’m definitely returning to Simeon Potter house again. If you’re looking for a cozy luxurious B&B that is walking distance to the historical Washington square, then you should give this place serious consideration.. oh and did I mention the view of battery park and the bridge to goat island from our room??
Best B&B ever! Sarina was absolutely amazing! She went out of her way to help us plan our trip and make the most of our time in Newport —she even made dinner reservations for us! Sarina and her mom, Joanne are so very talented and personable. We loved our conversations with them each day. The house is absolutely lovely and the details and research that went into the restoration is amazing. The location is perfect—walkable to many shops and restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to visit again soon!
Captain Simeon Potter House is a wonderful B&B to stay while you’re visiting Newport. Here are the reasons why we had an amazing stay.
Sarina is a very attentive host who is generous from her recommendations with places to visit to the everyday breakfast spread. One morning, she even went out of her way to get the best croissants from Newport! She’s completely on top of what’s happening in town and she makes sure you get the best food choices via text. She also tells great stories!
While Captain Simeon Potter House is a historic home, you wouldn’t know it because of the historically accurate interior renovations. It has everything you need for a comfortable stay - well appointed, clean sheets, AC/heat at night, and a wave noise machine!
It was our first time visiting Newport, and we won’t hesitate to stay at Captain Simeon Potter House again! It’s next level!
Had an amazing time during our long weekend here! Sarina is an amazing host, she is extremely knowledgeable of Newport and helped us to plan out an itinerary to make the most of our time here. The house was cozy, historic, and very clean. The breakfast items were fresh and delicious. We loved it so much that we didn’t want to leave! Would recommend this place to anyone. You won’t be disappointed.
We were able to take a last minute trip to Newport for the weekend, and were so lucky to find this gem. This 300 year old home is beautifully restored and is just lovely. We were welcomed on arrival and were made to feel comfortable immediately. Sarina was amazing from going out of her way to get the best baked goods in Newport (a previous review notes the best croissants in Newport and thats 100% true) to giving fantastic recommendations for places to eat as well as see in Newport. We can't wait to go back!
I just spent a wonderful weekend in Newport with my three daughters. We stayed at the lovely Simeon Potter House which was very comfortable and close to restaurants and shopping. Our hosts, Sarina and Joanne were helpful, friendly and truly enhanced our stay. I have to add the breakfasts were delicious. I would highly recommend it as a place to stay!
We had a wonderful time staying with Sarina for the weekend. The 300 year old historic house was beautifully restored and the small attention to details made the stay that much more special. Sarina was incredibly welcoming from first stepping in until checking out. We were impressed by how personable the experience was and we highly recommend staying at the Captain Simeon Potter house over anywhere else in Newport. This is an incredible place to stay and we will definitely stay when visiting the area again!
We stayed at Captain Simeone Potter House with another couple and it was lovely! Sarina was so helpful with restaurant and activity recommendations. Our room and the entire home and yard are idyllic. A lot of care and love was put into curating every detail of this historic home.
The house was a quick 7 minute walk to the wharf, and we also walked over to a larger hotel on Goat Island to enjoy the spa. We felt right at home here and would definitely visit again. Thank you for a wonderful first stay in Newport !
