My wife and I spent 3 nights at Captain's Mansion for our 40th anniversary and visiting friends and family in the area. The inn was beautiful and well maintained. The room was great and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We had breakfast each morning - and it was perfect for us. We walked into downtown mystic each day and the location was ideal. Also - the widow's walk at the top of the mansion was a cool place to visit. It was our first time here - and we will come back again
My wife and I stayed here as part of a wedding a block that took over the hotel and it was perfect. It was such a treat to stay in a big luxurious home with all our friends. ||Nancy's warm welcome to the mansion started with our first phone call to book the reservation, continued through our arrival welcome tour and all throughout our stay. She put out a nice charcuterie board on the night we all arrived, creating the perfect opportunity to catch up with everyone over wine and snacks. Collectively, we made a point to socialize in each of the parlor rooms at least once, just to enjoy ambiance. ||The "continental" breakfast put most continental breakfasts to shame, complete with warm quiche on offer from the kitchen. The patio was a great place to eat breakfast in the warm summer mornings.||The day of the wedding, my wife took pleasure in getting ready in the beautiful, spacious bathroom of our room.||All in all, a great place, would highly recommend a stay here regardless of group size, but it was extra fun to stay alongside friends.
The Captain’s Mansion is a beautiful place to stay. Each room is beautifully designed and has a story. The service is top-notch. There was a continental breakfast each morning with fresh pastries, a guests pantry where you could buy wine by the glass and have cheese and crackers. Nancy and Olga went above and beyond. They booked dinner reservations for us. The location is perfect nestled on a quiet street. However, you are still walking distance from all of downtown Mystic. I highly recommend this location for any and all your travels into Mystic.
We had a wonderful stay at the Captain’s Mansion! The location is picturesque and convenient to downtown Mystic but away enough from the hustle and bustle to be a relaxing refuge. The mansion itself is pristine, having clearly been lovingly restored to its Guilded Age-era glory, but with modern touches. We enjoyed sipping tea in the sitting rooms each evening. The beds were super comfortable and the breakfast was perfect to start the day. Hoping to return soon!
We were looking for an elegant place to stay, within walking distance of the cute and touristy section of Mystic - near the drawbridge. Captain's Mansion had good reviews and seemed like the sort of beautiful and releaxing place that would fit the bill. ||This building is gorgeous and spotless. It has the touches of a first class hotel/inn and the staff is very friendly. ||The Captain's Mansion has a feel somewhere between a stately hotel and a B&B, and offers a few complimentary amenities including Kuerig coffee, cold water, cheese and crackers in a fridge, granola bars etc -- all in one area near the rear of the building. They also have a wine vending machine that allows guests to purchase wine by the glass - using a payment card that the hotel provides. Those glasses of wine aren't particularly cheap, but it is quite good quality wine. ||There are a variety of rooms and we opted for one of the 'suites'. It wasn't so much a suite (with multiple inner rooms) but it did have an extensive private balcony with a bench and table. Historic high ceilings and a sparkling clean and perfect bathroom made our stay a joy. ||The halls are decorated in a fitting nautical theme with many oil paintings of sailing yachts. ||In the lobby are several beautiful sitting rooms and there is a rear dining room with adjoining outdoor dining space where one could enjoy the small continental breakfast that is offered in the mornings. ||Parking is off-street in a stone-gravel lot. We had no concerns about our vehicle in this private parking space||The grounds surrounding the mansion are immaculate and beautiful. ||While our stay wasn't cheap, we had no regrets.
Absolutely beautiful mansion with incredible details everywhere you look. Very nice staff with good breakfast and very quiet environment. You can't beat the location. We walked to Mystic Pizza in 5 minutes. This is a "treat yourself" experience that I highly recommend!
We recently stayed at Captain's Mansion for a 2-night anniversary getaway. It's a fabulous, impeccably renovated mansion that has been converted to a boutique hotel. The staff were very friendly and eager to please. A continental breakfast is included. Nothing fancy, but there was a good variety, and everything was constantly replenished. They have a nice patio if you want to eat breakfast outside or relax with a book or glass of wine. No restaurant on site, but they have free snacks available and a self-serve wine dispenser system. The hotel is a short walk downhill to explore downtown. The stay isn't cheap, but you get what you are paying for in ambiance and service. We will be back.
My husband and I had a wonderful time at Captains Mansion! The house itself is beautiful, the gardens are amazing, the food was perfect. But the BEST feature of this house is the staff! The manager , Nancy was so great. Unfortunately I don't remember all the names of the people that make the Captains Mansion a special place ,but I do know everyone was very gracious and made us feel very special . Thank you to all ! And also a thank you to Sonny Glaser for keeping a beautiful old house that we can visit!!
Our 1st stay was in the Valiant Room-so cute, dockside & paired to look like the inside of a ship- we loved it. Last week, We stayed in the Kathleen Suite & it was spacious with all the extras . It was 1st floor , which we prefer with a comply bed( b
Lovely Hotel with great amenities. The decorations for Valentines day are really cute and I LOVE the fire place! They even have a hot chocolate bar that is fully stocked with all the good stuff that goes along with a big cup! They also have a coffee
We had a great time. Enjoyed the shopping in the village and afterwards had a nice dinner at the Hilton's restaurant, The Irons, very friendly staff, we enjoyed chatting with them and enjoyed their specialty drinks and Cobb salad and Pork Chop meal.
We had shrimp fried rice and cauliflower tikla marsala. Really good. The chef cooks to order so the food is fresh, the carrots still with a little crunch, the vegetables all still tasty, the rice cooked perfectly, nothing soggy from being reheated.
We had an AMAZING experience! I booked online and had some questions so called ahead. The staff were very helpful and didnât seem bothered by my calling. When we did the run through and even throughout the course all of the staff were helpful to my
Great place to visit and shop around at various stores. Sticky Situation, the glass jewelry place, extra virgin olive oil, and Munson's chocolate are all great places. The area around Christmas time takes new life and is a joy to experience. They had
Breakfast here was an absolute treat. I opted for the crab and asparagus eggs benedict, which were fantastic, however the real star of the show were the pancakes. They were some of the most delicious and fluffy pancakes I've ever had. Make sure to tr
CHOCOLATE! Yumm! Delicious signature chocolate drink. Chatted with the owner who makes this special chocolate. Friendly host! I grabbed the Hawaiian chocolate that is hard to get. Owner states the best chocolate is from Ecuador, I tried it and, yes,
Itâs a great place to learn lots of history. Well preserved museum town. Initially I thought I wasted spending for this place. But as I enter each museum rooms, it was very interesting. Great way to learn about the past of a port town. Lovely demo
