I typically avoid writing reviews, especially negative ones, but after my recent stay at the Capri Motel in Santa Cruz, I felt compelled to share my experience to prevent others from going through what I did. To start with the positives, the motel is decently priced and conveniently located close to the boardwalk. The room had a small fridge and microwave. However, these minor conveniences do little to overshadow the deeply unpleasant aspects of my stay. When I first called to make a reservation, I spoke with Kevin, who identified himself as the manager. He took all my information but couldn't provide a confirmation number or send a confirmation email. This raised a red flag, but I decided to proceed, trusting that things would be in order upon arrival. The check-in process was smooth enough, though I found it strange when they emphasized the importance of locking my car windows, despite the area appearing relatively safe. The real issues became apparent once I entered the room. To put it bluntly, it was one of the dirtiest hotel rooms I've ever encountered. There was hair on the pillow that clearly wasn't mine, blood stains on the supposedly clean sheets, and the inside of the bed cover was filthy. It was truly disgusting. Unfortunately, I returned to the room late, after the front office had closed for the night at 10 p.m. (they don’t open again until 8:30 a.m.), so I couldn't request a different room or clean linens. The next morning, I bumped into Kevin again and pointed out all the issues with the room, including additional blood stains on the side of the bed that I hadn’t noticed before. His response was shockingly disappointing. All he said was that he’d inform the maid and the manager, with no genuine sense of concern. It was especially baffling since he had previously claimed to be the manager himself. As I returned the key—an antiquated, punch-hole style key that they charge you $25 for if not returned—I mentioned that I might write a review. Kevin's response was simply, "Sorry, I'll talk to the maid and manager." Again, this was confusing because I was under the impression that he was the manager. When I pointed out that most businesses would offer some form of compensation or at least a sincere apology after such a bad experience, he offered me half off my next stay. I couldn’t help but chuckle, as I would never stay at this motel again, nor would I recommend it to anyone else. This review isn't something I wanted to write, but after such an awful experience and the complete lack of customer service, I felt it was necessary. I'll be posting pictures so you can judge for yourself whether this is a place you'd ever want to stay. As for me, I’m just glad to have checked out.

727 / 5,000 Hello everyone, I would like you to know how to take advantage of situations where you arrive late and then the landlord or someone on his behalf changes the price of renting the room (without being ashamed). Instead of giving me a discount because I came really late from 1:00 p.m. he preferred to charge me more. I had a disabled ticket and there was a free space...he asked me to leave the parking lot for normal parking. In addition, he added another 5 dollars to the price as an additional service that I don't know what the service is? In addition, when I finally want to leave for the room he told me: in the form of a threat, if we don't see the door card (key) in the morning, then you will pay another 25 dollars. I felt more threatened than served. I went up to the room, entered the shower...guess! The miser from the office put the water pressure as low as possible. I don't come to this place anymore. More than that, my recommendation for this place is zero! Don't come here...really unpleasant!

I'll start by saying the people that work for the hotel are nice. But the room was horrific I found hair under the pillows and under the bed sheets, the desk was dirty, some calcium buildup in the shower, some towels had stains, the phone did not work, the air conditioner would randomly shut off, the parking my first night I didn't even have a real parking spot, everyday when I returned I was worried that I was not going to be able to have a spot to park. If you stay here always check your bed sheets. I will not be returning here.

Parked here for 5 minutes while waiting for my friend to get off of work. The person who came to my car knocked on the window with his fists, was EXTREMELY rude and threatening, and even though it probably wasn’t personal it resulted in a chain reaction of stress and pain that lead to me getting lost in downtown Santa Cruz as I desperately searched for a place to park for 5 minutes just so my friend could walk to the car. He wouldn’t even give me 2 seconds to speak before talking over me and threatening me if i didn’t leave immediately. I got lost trying to find anywhere else to park in the city because I was paranoid and on edge that someone else would berate me. The encounter left me spiraling with adrenaline and loathing. The rest of my night was pretty much ruined by the way this guy treated me. He genuinely added to the cycle of pain and mistreatment in the world and I kind of hate this place now and get really bad feelings every time I have to drive by it to pick up my friend. After reading other reviews it seems like this is a trend. DO NOT COME HERE. EVER. Go next door to the hotel with valet parking if you have to.

Clean rooms and comfortable beds staff was very nice and attending hot water on demand , location close to everything downtown and the beach boardwalk saved a lot on parking but just walking

Found long black hair on my towels for showering and I don't have long black hair big bathroom sink looks like they've never washed it around the rim the floors look like they use the dirty and mop to wash the floors and to wear my boots couldn't wear my socks because they got too dirty and it took 5 minutes to get hot water to work in the shower

The location is simply unbeatable. It's a 5 min walk to the Boardwalk and 10 minutes walk to downtown Santa Cruz. The price was also very competitive, we paid $71 with free parking and the new Marriott Courtyard nextdoor wanted $150 and parking was probably not free. But, the rooms are very basic, you can hear every noise on the street and nextdoor and it felt quite chilly even with the noisy, old AC on a December night. The shower was upgraded and adequate, there was a (noisy) fridge, a microwave and coffee machine, but the bed sheets were thin and the room felt uncomfortably cold at night. It's a true budget place and not for everyone but probably ok for 1-2 nights.
