Not knowing the city well, I was a little worried it might be in a sketchy area as it was just me and my teenage daughter. It’s really not an issue, we felt completely safe. There’s a great grocery store close by. It’s also easy to get to the freeway. The rooms are so much better than I expected for the price. I had the two queen bed suite. It’s two separate bedrooms, with two separate TV’s, a full size kitchen with a large refrigerator/freezer. It’s so well kept, it’s really clean. The beds are comfortable. The shower is small, but it feels really good, good water pressure. Really, they could be justified in charging more per night. For the price, I was very impressed. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

We were nervous about a "motel" and had been cautioned by family about the "sketchy part of town" this place is in. NOT TO WORRY, this motel rivals any "Hotel" and the part of town was no different than any other thoroughfare in any metro area. My ONLY negative comment is the road noise. We live in a very quiet area so the noise stood out. It was evident however, major insulation had been added for noise reduction. The room was large, VERY clean and had all the amenities and more we needed for a two night stay. We even had an array of pillows from which to choose! The owner was very friendly and eager to tell the history of the 1940s construction which we found quite interesting. The attention to detail in this totally refurbished establishment was noticeable. Thank you Capital Hill Motel for a perfect start to our vacation.

Terrific small family run basic hotel. Stayed here for two nights while doing a cross country bike trip. The rooms are clean and well maintained and The husband and wife owners are friendly and extremely accommodating! Highly recommended.

Not a bad place to stay at all! The room was clean and really big, with 2 queen beds in separate rooms, a full kitchen and a decent sized bathroom for a good price. I recommend catching some zzz's here if you feel the need and are in the area!

This was my first time staying at the Capitol Hill Motel, and I will be back! The family who owns this hotel is very friendly, stating they hoped the motel could be a “home away from home”. I was exhausted and asked if there was any way I could check in a hour before the official check-in time; it would have been within their rights to say no, but they very kindly accommodated my request. The rooms are VERY CLEAN, and look like they might have been remodeled recently. My suite had two rooms and a kitchenette, and everything was very nice, even the kitchen appliances (which included a stove). There was an assortment of pillows with varying firmness, and the bathroom included conditioning shampoo, which motels don’t always include. The whole facility felt safe and was very quiet. The location is great too, as there are multiple restaurants across the street and a Fred Meyer down the road. The deposit is on the high side, but whenever I have encountered this, I assume there is a good reason, and I got every penny of it back. I normally stay in hotel chains, but had such a good night here that I will be back!

The place itself is fine, small and nice but several problems in the room affected the overall experience: 1. There was only one dresser next to the bed in the room (as you can see in the pictures). 2. The armchair had a dent in one of the armrests. 3. The bathroom is small and awkward and we were not comfortable. 4. Bath towels were quite small. I would like to point out that there is a microwave that worked well and a refrigerator with a dedicated freezer, which is definitely impressive for a motel. I will also add that the receptionist was nice. I will summarize the overall experience and say that it was nice but I expected a little more emphasis on the details I mentioned above.

The room was spacious, clean, and tidy upon entering. It definitely had the qualities of a suite with a stove, fridge, microwave and a full sink with sink sprayer. I'm guessing the entire motel was recently renovated hence a lot of new furniture, appliances, and electronics. The front desk lady was very nice and I do highly recommend the place to anyone who is traveling through the city or chooses to stay for a while.

Chose this based on location of some things we were doing in town, worked perfect. Room was very nice, quaint. The full kitchen was very good to have, however there were no items in the kitchen to use so we went out and bought a pan to make some food. Room was clean, fairly quiet even being next to the interstate.

I love this spot. They have one of the best cappuccinos in Portland. The staff is always kind, and friendly. And the tunes are always on point. Pro tip: ask for sugar crunchies on your capp. You won’t regret it!
