Candlewood Suites Secaucus - Meadowlands, an IHG Hotel - Hotel in Secaucus - 279 Secaucus Rd, USA

I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience at Candlewood Suites Secaucus. After a grueling 10-hour drive, my family (4 years old daughter!) and I arrived at the hotel, exhausted and eager to rest. We had booked our stay using a friends and family discount, but upon arrival, we were told by the front desk person, Nicole, that she was unable to apply the discount because she was new and hadn't been trained on how to do it. Despite the fact that we had already booked the room this way, our discount was refused. I politely asked Nicole to contact a supervisor for assistance. She called the general manager, Victoria Lagua, on speakerphone. As soon as Nicole mentioned that I wanted to speak with her, Victoria rudely responded, "No, no, no, I don't have time for this." Both Nicole and Victoria were incredibly unprofessional and dismissive throughout the entire interaction. Feeling frustrated and unwelcome, we decided to leave the hotel. To make matters worse, they still charged us for both nights of our stay, even though we never even checked in! This was an appalling experience from start to finish, and I would strongly advise anyone considering staying here to think twice. Poor customer service and untrained staff made what should have been a restful stop on our trip an absolute nightmare.

We stayed at the hotel over the weekend and I have to say we were extremely disappointed with the front desk lady (don't want to mention the name). She was trying to check in us and we were asked to swipe our cards 8 times (different cards, credit cards and Debit card) and she still said the system didn't the $50 deposit even our cards were charged. She was extremely incapable and she was speaking with her supervisor multiple times and we were not allowed to. I called my credit card companies and the charges/authorizations were there. Obviously she was NOT trained to do her job, and we were very upset. Eventually she made a "exception" and let us check in. And I have to deal with multiple charges on my various credit cards. Manager of this hotel, please have someone capable to do the job !!!!!!

It is a very wonderful hotel. The front desk are wonderful and very kind to visitors and children. The cleanliness of the rooms is excellent. The smell of cleanliness throughout the hotel . I stayed there for about 15 days and you feel at home. It is truly a family place I advise everyone to Residence there Many thanks to all the staff

I stay at almost exclusively IHG hotels. We picked this hotel because we verified with their staff that we would have space to park our van and small trailer during our stay and it was near our meeting location during our visit to Secaucus. We reserved the room only about three hours before our arrival (driving across the country to Secaucus for work). When we got there, there was no parking for our oversized van, let alone a small 5x8 trailer. When I called to ask about other parking options, the staff was not friendly, helpful, or apologetic. I asked about canceling my reservation or transferring it to another IHG hotel, they put me on hold, then told me it wasn't possible because of their 24 hour cancelation policy. Again, no empathy or helpfulness. We ended up parking at the local Sam's Club, then taking a Lyft to/from the hotel. The staff was very cold and unfriendly to us when we arrived. They didn't seem to care that we were paying guests whatsoever. The entry was not welcoming, the room was musty smelling, the mini kitchen area was nice (despite not using it), and the beds were decent for one night's sleep. I rarely give such poor reviews, but this was definitely needed after this experience. I would not stay here again.

The service here is absolutely horrible. They cancelled my reservation and lied about calling the number on file. After speaking and requesting to speak to a manager I was given the run around. Instead of honoring the price of my reservation they tried to sell me a room at an expediently higher price! No honor.

I’ve been staying here every 6 months or so for the past couple of years. It’s my go to hotel when I come to Jersey. It’s close to family that lives in the area like Union City, Hoboken & West New York and close to the city. Highly recommend, it’s clean, staff is great and safe. I’m very low maintenance but I’ve never incurred any problems. My second home from home.

I would avoid them at all cost. My husband stayed here which was supposed paid under his company he works for. They ended up charging our credit card 900 dollars and when they were called to be told about it they ended up taking 820 dollars more out of our account. Now I have bills coming out that are going to probably bounce my checking account and they don’t care they refunded it is what they said. This hotel and management is a joke. They should be refunding me more money to pay for all the bounced bills in my account.

Great pet-friendly & very nice staff. From booking to checkout everything went smoothly. Traveling from Boston to NJ to see the 4th of July fireworks planning last minute. Candlewood suites definitely made our trip comfortable
