Candlewood Suites Olathe - Kansas City Area, an IHG Hotel - Hotel in Olathe - 15490 S Rogers Rd, USA

I don't normally write a review. I booked rooms for me and my family. I didn't get the rooms that I wanted 2 double beds but it's okay as they said there are no available. But the front desk named Carry or Carrie, she was so helpful, very attentive and very professional. Sometimes the people that work in the hotel matters a lot.

I booked a room at the Candlewood in November 2023 for a weekend stay in mid April 2024. On 4/13 I got a call from the manager, Shawn, saying they were overbooked and moving me to their sister property 15 minutes away. I had specifically booked this hotel because I’m running the marathon and wanted to be close to the race. I booked through Expedia so, unfortunately, it’s non refundable. My friend had booked the Candlewood as well (not through Expedia) and she got a call today that they couldn’t accommodate her reservation and they were moving her to another property even farther away. Don’t book this hotel unless you want to deal with a place that doesn’t know how to honor reservations.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, but the room was damp and smelled like stale nicotine. The entry and halls are dark dated and they don't offer breakfast. Unfortunately, I won't be staying here again.

Hotel overbook themselves which I guess is just my problem to figure out. Made a reservation in December for the Olathe Marathon. Front desk called me to inform me that they cancelled my reservation but they said they’d hold my $150 room rate at the motel 20 minutes up the road. Haha, I’m sure you will hold my rate, thanks. Reservations just mean nothing to Candlewood. I’m okay with the overbooking but I think you could at least offer me a comparable room if you’re going to “hold my rate”.

Positive: I like Candlewood layout of their rooms Negative: Most of my disappointment comes from the staff that checked me in. at 11 PM I just want to get into the room and not watch them answer personal calls or talk about showing up in the wrong color shirt and Barbie shoes. They just lack any professionalism.

Very clean. The place is really well taken care of. It is a getaway place, I didn't feel like leaving at the end of my stay.

Made a reservation for the family. Checked in and was told we were upgraded by the manager. Went to the room and found we went from a 2 bed room reservation to a 1 bed room with a pull out sofa. Went back down to the front desk to inquire. Front desk girl told me that was an upgrade and I told her I disagreed. We have 4 people staying in the room and that is why we reserved a 2 bed room. She went on to state she could not do anything about changing rooms and the manager upgraded the room. I explained the room does now have a large fridge and dishwasher, but this is not an upgrade. We are staying 1 night and do not need either of those items. We are staying at the hotel to sleep. She then stated, "enjoy your stay" and was done talking. I asked for the manager and pointed to their business card which only gave me their email address. I emailed the manager that night and never heard from them (Shawn H). This hotel has very poor customer service and does not care about their guests. Not evaluating the lack of bed, this room was 3/5 stars. Do not recommend.
