I can't say enough about this Inn. I had a vision for my holiday weekend away and this was above and beyond. For one, I appreciate that not only was my dog welcome to stay with me, but was met by both Connie and the other guests with so much love an acceptance! Without being able to travel with my dog my options are travel alone or not at all, and im much happier being able to bring my side kick. We also enjoyed the local hiking trails which are very close driving distance. This 1800s house has all of the charm I was hoping for. The bed was super comfortable, the room was clean. I was offered a space heater and although I didn't need it I thought that was nice. The breakfast served exceeded any expectation I could have had. Delicious! I felt like I was home for the holidays. The Inn is on a side street which is just enough to be quiet, but close enough to town that you can shop and walk around with no trouble walking back and forth quickly. I already want to book for a weekend next year. Thank you for such a lovely time!
This is a return trip to Candlebay Inn for us. As on our previous visit, we found our room immaculately clean. Connie and her staff are always helpful and friendly to all of the guests. Breakfast is served from 8-9:30 am and it varies every day. All of the items are fresh or homemade. There is plenty of parking available and it is easy to enter and exit. We will be back
Best thing? The innkeeper Connie. She checked in with us, offered help, coffee, restaurant advice, walked us out personally when we left, just the nicest person ever. It's an 1848 house so it has great charm and the general quirks of an older place - it's not a fancy inn, it's a comfortable inn, and the price and all the personal touches reflect that. So convenient to LL Bean and stores. Would definitely stay there again.
The Candlebay Inn is a warm and cozy bed and breakfast situated within walking distance of L.L. Bean and other shops in Freeport. The host was friendly and the rooms were clean and cheerful. The breakfast was delightful and consisted of a variety of homemade goodies. An extra bonus is that Connie welcomes pets. Judy and Alan Centerville, Ohio
This was our second visit to this B&B although the last time was 10 years ago when it was under different ownership. We have a small dog which can be limiting when it comes to accomdations in Freeport. As it was on our 1st visit, Candlebay is still pet friendly so we booked a room. Upon arrival we were greeted promptly by the friendly owner that showed us to our room. Everything was clean and the bed comfortable. The inn is within a short walk to LL Bean and other outlets. |Breakfast was excellent and consisted of an assortment of muffins along with an excellent variation of French toast. |We'd recommend Candlebay to anyone looking for welcoming accommodations in Freeport
First step into how wonderful Maine is! This B & B was built in 1848 (ish). Our hostess was amazing! So kind and helpful! There were several of us that had to leave before 7:45am; breakfast was to start at 8am. Our hostess was able to change breakfast to 7:30am! |Now, I would like to mention - this B&B is over 150 YEARS OLD!!! The floor creaks, the doors stick, all of these things make the venue that much more amazing! If you are looking for shiny new amenities may I suggest the Holiday Inn a little was down Main Street. If you are looking for a places with LOTS of charm and a friendly, congenial atmosphere - the CandleBay Inn is for you!
Positive: Charming place right off the main road close to all the shopping outlets. Super comfortable bed & reasonably priced. Host is kind & personable.
My husband and I had a wonderful stay here! The Inn is in the best location, on a quiet street but just a short walk to all the shops and restaurants. Our room was clean and had a king bed that was soo comfortable, and had a large bathroom with a nice hot shower. Connie was so friendly and suggested many things to do in the area, and also served the best breakfast (blueberry crumble french toast). I'm so glad that we decided to stay here instead of one of the larger inns down the street. We will definitely be back!
