Informative museum with lots of local and regional history. As with many museums, one visit does not do it justice!

Very interesting, lots of amazing displays. They actually built the museum around the Putnam house! There are 3 levels of exhibits, plus the house and even some neat hands-on stuff for kiddos. The gift shop has a wide array of interesting things, very reasonably priced.
After reading David McCullough's book, The Pioneers, this was like seeing a book come to life. He did a lot of the research from the collections here.
The best surprise was the well done exhibit on the migration of people from Appalachia to Ohio. It described the reasons people moved and the challenges they faced. It's easy to see connections with so many other groups who migrate.
We were given a tour of the Putnam house first. Our guide was very informative about the history of Marietta
She was very enjoyable as well. We had done a little reading about Marietta before coming to town. We felt it helped us in asking questions as well as understanding the history. Would definitely recommend a visit there.
We were not expecting what we got. We took the guided tour. Which lasted about hour, and found that there is an entire house inside the building. We learned about the house and its occupants over the time that it was part of the fort and after. The guide was great and moved everyone from room to room, pointing out original items from that time period. We definitely recommend this tour!
Absolutely beautiful museum and town. The enclosed Putnam House was tremendous! Definitely take the tour. We will absolutely need to go back for a longer visit, there was so much to see and learn.
If you're in town you should stop and check it out.
Outstanding explanation of early pioneer history. Very nice displays. Well worth a trip to this place! Had a tour by Bill. Again worth the extra $10 for the 2 hour lecture!
We had a very interesting quick tour of this museum. It was very informative trip. They had some rare exhibits, I remember buying some posters of some stern wheelers from this museum.
What a great find! In town for a sporting event and ate here. Food was great! I had salmon, roasted red potatoes, and asparagus. My husband had the Lafayette salad and then the fish and chips. Our server, Julie was a ROCK STAR. Beautiful setting on t
A darling little place. Amazing bartender, very personable, sweet, and helpful. Pool tables, juke box, heated outdoor smoking area. Loved the margaritas ð¹
Very cool and historic and comfortable! Great prices for a night. We loved the location right on the river. Our twin beds were super comfy and the bathroom floors were heated! What a cool hidden gem! The lobby was all decorated for Christmas and it w
I ordered sausage biscuits with milk to drink. Huge biscuits with thick, fresh-tasting sausage. Dining area can get crowded but for good reason: the food is really good. I would go here before I went to any of the national fast food chains for bre
Amazing place for lunch. We had the Pretzel bites with beer cheese as an appetizer, BBQ Burger and the Protein Bowl. The Burger was great and their fries amazing. The Protein Bowl was Rice with veggies, a good portion of chicken and an amazing sweet
My friend & I were in Marietta & we needed a place to eat before heading back to NE Ohio. It was the only spot open on a Sunday evening near where we were & it was a great choice. The outside looks inviting with sidewalk tables to enjoy if you prefer
It was very cold this day, no wait for seating or service. Had a great server, quick drinks, no grits that day but had a wonderful eggs Benedict classic with a side of sausage links. Very good. Eggs were perfectly poached, my wife had waffles and bac
