Great little authentic traditional Mexican food restaurant. I Love the decor. There are TV's mounted to the walls, playing various sports events. It's hidden away, off Houston Street, down from the Sherman Grayson County Courthouse and government building.. The service was excellent. The server made sure we had what we needed. Cosy smaller location with mostly booths around the walls. The food had large portions and was really good. Street 3 hour parking. There may have been a close by parking lot but we did not utilize it.
We used to enjoy the food here when it started, but slowly it has gotten worse. The last experience was quite disheartening. The flour tortillas were old and I suspect that the edge was showing mold because the edge was cut off, I wouldn't know why else the edge would be cut off. The tacos had so much grease that I had to literally wring it tightly before taking my first bite and over 3 tbs of grease came out. Queso was simply microwaved "cheese". Meat tasted funny like when your taste buds are like "it's alright I guess.." and your brain goes like "nah.. something is way off". It feels like the cook does not really care😞. Our visit was on a Tuesday. Two stars instead of one because the place looks great and the service was not bad, the potential is still there!
YUM!! We stumbled upon this Mexican restaurant looking for some street tacos, & they did not disappoint!! I had the carnitas tacos & enchiladas as part of the “create your own plate” option. The better half ordered the brisket enchilada plate, and we had the ceviche as an appetizer. No negative comments here! We are stuffed from trying to indulge every last bit! The vibe & atmosphere in the place was amazing, loved the music! TVs everywhere! & lastly the price was great! 10 out of 10 Recommen!!
Food and service was excellent 👍. I really enjoyed the chips and salsa. I was amazed at how great the freshly prepared guacamole 🥑 was. I ate the Enchiladas del Rancho. It was delicious.
Update: Had the Chimichanga Mexicana today. It was excellent. Guacamole was prepared as deliciously as every other time I've gotten it.
We were looking for a new restaurant to try that was fresh and unique. Camino Viejo is a treasure that is hidden downtown Sherman. It’s so hidden, we walked right past the door. Once we entered the restaurant, it was magical. The food is prepared fresh, so the smells are divine. The walls are decorated authentically. They have TVs. It is BYOB. I usually rate Mexican food from the salsa and chips. This salsa is fresh and delicious. The chips are fresh. Before we finished our 2nd street taco, we agreed this would be a go-to restaurant for us. I highly recommend.
don’t order togo. soup had no broth, 1 chunk of chicken and 1 tiny avocado slice. but they did not skimp us on the soggy tortillas. maybe pack those on the side next time. the flautas in pictures come with 3. the menu also states they are on a bed of slaw. did not receive that and only got 2. it looks like this togo box has been eaten out of, it hasn’t. this is how it looked when we opened the togo box at home.
We received such poor service and the food was mediocre. Way overpriced for the portions and quality. My issue though is that the chips on our nacho plate were stale. I kindly let our waitress know they were stale and she offered to have them remade. When we received the new plate of nachos it was half of the order. I asked why they only give us half the meal considering a couple of stale nachos were consumed. I saw the interaction between our waitress and the man in the kitchen when she told him the chips were sale, he laughed and rolled his eyes. Completely rude and unprofessional. We just wanted the meal we were paying for to not be stale.
I was charged $20 for a burrito that the menu says is $14... When I asked the manager about the charge she was incredibly rude and admitted the charge was the waitress fault. She kept wanting to argue and be rude. She is completely incompetent and unprofessional!!! You admit the charge was a mistake by YOUR employee but still force me to pay $20 for ONE BURRITO. I will definitely take my business elsewhere as well as letting EVERYONE know my experience and advising NOONE attend this horrible place!!!
