The hike provides exceptional views of the valley! It is considered one of the nation's top hiking destinations and attracts visitors from all over. There're two main trails that are considered to be pretty difficult, so one should proceed with caution.

DO NOT go in this trail if you’re not expecting extreme heat, dehydration, and overall pain everywhere. Only recommend for extremely fit and athletic people who are absolute experts with strenuous hiking. Come with LOTS of water. My family ended up all running out even though we packed tons. The end view is NOT worth it whatsoever. So much pain for nothing at all. Helicopters and firefighters roam the area to help people who have been seriously injured. While i was there, 5 fire trucks came to rescue lost children/teens looking for shade that went missing/injured. For such a exhausting and excruciating hike there should be a nice view. There are plenty of hikes with beautiful and way better views in Arizona. Overall this hike is not worth it at all.

Oops, my daughter got recommendations from her friends and was directed here. It's lovely, but we accidentally took the turn to Echo Canyon trail and it's a double black diamond. Pretty difficult for a 63 year old woman who hasn't been terribly active the past few years. My daughters scaled the last half to the summit, I chose to hang at the 19 post until they rejoined me. The 2.5 to 3 hours to summit is accurate. If we'd return, I'd probably attempt the summit.

My favorite mountain in Phoenix due to the amazing views of the whole city. A hard but very beautiful hike to get up yhough.

This is not an easy hike. Be prepared for a lot of bouldering! In the end, it's a really rewarding experience. I'd recommend getting there early. It's a popular place and parking is limited. Also, the trail gets busy, so the earlier you are up and down, the better the experience is without having to try and navigate rocks and people. The view is spectacular. Bring lots of water and some snacks!

Wonderful hike. Cholla trail is pretty easy until the last 3-400 feet where it becomes challenging and steep in areas. Well worth the hike though! Lots of water and take breaks, slow and steady.

We started our day by trying to hike at the Echo Canyon Trailhead but the parking lot was closed because it was too full. We ended up doing Cholla Trailhead and since it was such a busy Saturday we had to park on the side of the street about a half mile away or so. The hike was more on the moderate side, some spots were pretty rocky and could be challenging but nothing too crazy. You can get to Camelback Mountain from either the Echo Canyon Trailhead or the Cholla Trailhead. Overall a very beautiful hike. Round trip from the car was 3.8 miles and 1,335 feet elevation gain.
