We had a remarkable first stay (of many, hopefully!) at the Camden Maine Stay Inn. Peter and Janis are truly wonderful innkeepers: from their help making dinner reservations when we were running late for check-in to their thoughtful recommendations for seeing the town to their great storytelling over coffee, they were top tier hosts.||As a same-sex couple in our twenties, we don't fall into a very common bed & breakfast demographic, which can be intimidating at times. We never felt that way here, where Peter and Janis made us feel right at home. Be sure to say hi to their friendly dog, Paddy! He is the envy of Camden!||We stayed in the Smith room, and it was lovely all around. The decor was seamless and charming. I look forward to returning to the Smith room and also to trying another room in future.||How have I not mentioned it already--the FOOD! Breakfast was beyond our wildest dreams. We knew from other reviews that we could expect great things, but both mornings of our stay surpassed even our high expectations. A hearty breakfast--that at the same time was not too heavy--was the perfect start to each day of adventure in Camden.||I look forward to returning to the Camden Maine Stay Inn soon, perhaps in another season to see all Maine has to offer. I have no doubt Peter and Janis will make it a warm return.
We were privileged to spend a night at Camden Maine Stay Inn. Janis and her husband, Peter could not have been more welcoming and pleasant. They are very knowledgeable about the area and provided written information for future trips. The home is elegantly historic with all the modern conveniences one might need. We enjoyed a beautiful and delicious breakfast that highlighted many locally sourced ingredients. We would love to return to enjoy the lovely grounds and gardens in warmer weather.
Jan and Peter are remarkable hosts. Upon arrival, Jan gave us a tour of the common areas -- yes plural. There were a number of such rooms on the first floor, each with an unique history. Our room on the second floor, while small by our choice, had everything we needed, from a comfortable bed, to a good-sized shower, to excellent lighting. After unpacking and moving back to the first floor, we met with Peter who provided us with the needed information on downtown Camden as well as nearby hiking. The breakfast served the following morning was excellent -- featuring French toast with a tasty peach infusion and, of course, the requisite locally-sourced maple syrup. The coffee was perfect. The glassed-in dining room was a beautiful place to dine. |Unfortunately our time budget limited us to that one-night's stay. Since we had planned a rather long hike after breakfast, and the trailhead was within walking distance, Peter generously let us know we could remain parked at the Inn for as long as we needed -- well after morning checkout. Upon returning to our car that afternoon, still parked at the Inn, Peter greeted us outside and invited us back into the Inn for refreshment.|We regret that we could only stay that one night, due to our time constraints, but are looking forward to another, longer visit during which we hope to day-trip to the some of the nearby coastal islands.

The inn's blend of historic charm and modern comfort creates a cozy yet elegant atmosphere. The breakfast, crafted with fresh, local ingredients, was a delightful culinary experience. Personalized welcomes and thoughtful details further highlighted their commitment to guest satisfaction. In every aspect, this inn exceeded expectations, offering a perfect retreat where genuine care meets exceptional service.
Camden Maine Stay was such a joy to stay the weekend in time for Camden Christmas festivities. The owners of the inn ( Peter and Janis) were so nice and helpful in informing us all about Camden and near by restaurants, museums, lighthouses and other attractions. |We had the most delicious breakfasts every morning. Our room was warm and comfy! Waking up we could smell breakfast cooking. We had such a restful weekend and wanting more days like the one we had. We will definitely choose Camden Stay Inn again!
Janice and Peter are phenomenal hosts. Their inn is exceptionally welcoming, well-kept, and clean. The rooms are well-maintained. Their historic home is a gem. It is perfectly situated from downtown Camden, and we cannot recommend staying here enough. Booking the Carriage House room is well worth the value, and it is perfect for a romantic, quiet getaway.
Janis and Peter are consummate hosts. The inn is deliciously warm and comfortable. Breakfast was outstanding, starting with the coffee and continuing through the homemade coffeecake, eggs poached in cream, and patiently cooked bacon. Great stay!

Birchwood Lodge is a lovely place to stay. We wanted to be close to downtown Camden and found the location to be ideal. Despite being close to the road, our room was quiet and we were pleased with the cleanliness of it. The gardens are really nice
I stayed one night at the Riverhouse and it was a great experience. When I arrived I received a room upgrade and then I went to the pool. The pool was warm and clean (no harsh chlorine smell). Plus I had the pool to myself! There was no noise from th
Not my favorite ,not really a beach, no sand but, leash dog friendly and a great place to picnic. and what a view of the lake, hills and maidens cliff. Gets really crowded on hot days. Beware the bacteria count on those days.
Small space but amazing food! They serve breakfast all day and their lunch options are delicious! The staff is super friendly and it's right off the main street so you are close to everything, walking distance to the bay!
Edit: we came back 9 months
A lovely spot to take a stroll through the many paths and trails or enjoy the beautiful gardens. I attended an informative talk about pollinators given remotely by a State official. The center is a gem that local residents can enjoy. I certainly plan
Had Linguine and it was amazing. They run a happy hour from 4pm to 6pm in bar area only. Great place to come with a family or on a date. Plenty of dishes can be made gluten free or vegetarian, and they make their own gluten free and vegan pasta.
