This is a bar more than a grill. That said, our food was very good. The inside is completely open and it is VERY loud. I think if I were going to drink beer and hang out with friends this is a better place than to sit and have dinner.
So another adventure. My wife and I tried Callahans for a quick bite. We asked about their white BBQ sauce, it is listed with one of their chicken sandwiches Our waitress guaranteed we would like it. So we tried a sample our waitress brought us. It was a mixture of tarter sauce and BBQ. Neither my wife or I liked it. Not even a little bit! Our waitress became less friendly after we told her we did not like the sauce. Restaurant is a bar and grill, no frills, not busy (late lunch time about 1pm). We ordered ribs and wings with tots and queso and a salad to go (waitress suggested ordering it once our food is delivered). So being polite, we will call this bar food, it is a bar after all. When our food was delivered our waitress brought a yet not ordered salad, not to go, also the shared entree had fries no queso tots. Waitress fixed the error quickly. The wings were too greasy for my wife and she only ate only one rib. The queso sauce had no visible (or flavoured) seasoning and appeared to be thinned out. Honestly, were both glad the fries were mistakenly added they were better than the tots. Dillons (grocery store) often grills ribs for sale, I'd highly recommend their ribs over Callahans' ribs. Over all, we both agreed this will be our first and last visit to Callahans, its not worth the effort.
Everything thing I've tried so far has been DELICIOUS!!. First time ordering to go a few weeks ago, tried a half Hawaiian pizza and a side dinner salad. BOMB! Next up a week or so later, Mondays burger special (Tuesdays though, closed Mondays). Pretty tasty burger, cooked medium well to my perfection and delight. Today, smoked ribs and wings. I decided to get honey badger sauce as well for my wings in addition to the BBQ sauce. So FREAKING GOOD!! I also added bbq beans along with the fries. The beans and fries are pretty good. I'm picky about my sides and I was not disappointed. Sauce all over my desk, lol... Staff is really nice, very good recommendations on every occasion. I'm looking forward to my next order, posted the menu on the wall in my office. Yesssss, that good...
Don't order the salads. Most of it was limp. Friend's "sourdough" for his burger was not in fact sourdough.
If you like Carolina style sauces, then you'll like their wings.
Weirdest, most uncomfortable restaurant experience. We’ve never been to a Callahan’s before and decided to try it. We ordered one chicken tenders basket and fries, but they brought out three by mistake. We immediately informed the waitress that we only ordered one basket. The waitress returned the extra basket that she was holding to the kitchen. She said she could not return the basket that had already been placed on the table. We were confused and didn’t want the extra food, but she insisted we either eat it or take it home because it would have to be thrown in the trash. We agreed to keep the basket at no extra charge to avoid the food being wasted. We began to eat our meals. A few minutes later, the owner, Lisa, came over to our table. She asked about the extra basket of chicken tenders and fries that our kids were currently eating. She immediately yanked the extra basket and said we would not be charged for it. It made me, my husband and kids feel uncomfortable that she took food off our table without asking. When we received the receipt, we had been charged for the fries from the extra basket. Although our kids did eat a few fries from that plate, we felt strange to be charged for something we did not order and that the waitress insisted we keep it at no extra charge. We asked to speak with the owner, Lisa, about the extra charge. She argued that since the kids had eaten a few fries, we should be charged for those fries. She honestly made us feel like we did something wrong and we cost her to lose money. She never even apologized.
I was pretty disappointed coming in here. We walked in shortly after they opened and no one greeted us for almost 5 minutes. When we went to order drinks they were out of 2 requested drinks and the kids “juice box” was a koolaid pouch that wasn’t even cold. The wings that I asked for extra crispy were soggy and had an off taste to the chicken meat. Everything else was pretty much lacking any flavor. The environment came off dirty as well with our shoes sticking to the floor as we walked. Our waitress was friendly but probably won’t be back.
Great food, great service, great vibe. The team is super friendly and the servers are kind and playful. There are always plenty of games playing, plus good music.
Chicken wings were not cooked through, still very pink inside. Buffalo sauce was a puddle of grease.
