I was recently introduced to Cafe Pizzaiolo, and I love it. I'm so lucky it's in my neighborhood! The gluten-free pizza crust is thin and crisp (which I like a lot), and their pizza flavor combos are delicious. You can also design your own pizza. Their salads are good, too.
Contrary to a recent review by others, Pizzaolo is alive and well! They open at 10:30 daily and still have their brunch menu. This is a great local place with incredibly friendly service and a casual vibe. Tables, bar seating, outdoor seating all available.
Food is good sometimes the service is disorganized and it can take a long time to get food or the order is wrong. That said the pasta and sandwiches are good. The smoked chicken with pesto really is superb. The pizza is also available. There is a good bar with a selection of microbrews, wine and liquor.
It's a small place. We ordered takeout. Masks are optional here. They have gelato and canolli. Parking can be difficult on the neighborhood streets. Pizza is pretty good, compared to that of the big chains.
My favorite morning place for many many years, weekdays and after-church brunch. And now closed except for lunch and evening bar and pizza/etc hours :( No more brunch potatoes, eggs, Italian sausages, and the best coffee plus a delightful atmosphere. Now that Elmo's opened across the street (same owners), we're stuck with just okay coffee in paper cups and shipped-in bagels and the like, in a smaller place with louder music and metal chairs and (currently iffy) counter service. Definitely a loss for the Fairlington area to have Pizzaiolo partly shuttered.
The inside is small but smelled good when we walked in. There’s a good amount of outdoor seating as well. Pizza was served hot and prompt. The pizza was good! The crust was thin, cheese was good and it wasn’t too greasy. Would go back for another pizza or to try their other food
So we’ve been searching for our new local pizza joint, we order from Café Pizzaiolo our order arrived, and it was incorrect. However, we called back and spoke with Hobbie and he was quick to correct the problem. We ordered the fried cheese, which was still hot and delicious. The Italian salad was very authentic and the dressing was amazing. The pizza we originally ordered is on its way, however the cheese pizza that we did get was hot, perfectly cooked and delicious. We will definitely be back!!!
Great place. Food was very good, decent prices and service was excellent. Will be back for some pizza and a calzone!

THE BEST authentic Italian food we've ever ate. We visited last July and had to go back. The food is AMAZING, the portions are huge, and the service is like no other. A small place tucked away in Alexandria, VA but they have a huge welcoming presence
We enjoyed this restaurant a few weeks ago. We were surprised of the location and why we never knew it was there. Plenty of free parking available in the nearby garage. We made reservations and specifically went for The Cheese Wheel Experience. The f
Visited Mia's for dinner on Sat. Dec. 16 and had the perfect dinner. The quality of the food was excellent, the serving sizes were as they should be, the atmosphere was superb and our service was excellent. We liked it so much we returned the follo
When I say I love this place I mean it with my entire heart. EVERYTHING was tasty. Highly recommend the hummus, spicy mango wings, and the short rib gnocchi. I stopped eating just that I could have left overs and eat it again. The hummus was so fresh
I have a hard time passing up a meatball sandwich, and I'm really glad I didn't today! It may have well been the best one I've ever had. The meat was very flavorful and just firm enough. The perfect amount of sauce. And the bread was crisp and toasty
Even though this is mainly a take out place, there are a couple seats on the outdoor patio to enjoy the weather. Music was played outdoors and set a joyful mood. Food was excellent! We enjoyed the spaghetti marinara, garlic bread, minestrone soup, an
When the Civil War started and the Union took Alexandria many escaped slaves, called Contraband, poured into the city to escape their former masters. This overcrowding caused a high mortality rate. The soldiers seized a undeveloped plot of land and
